Keep in mind my game is DEITY, thus my poor position. I am using WFL not Tech Diffusion, to try to keep ahead of the curve but it seems I should have done the opposite. WFL aided my way too much in this game.

It will probably help them a lot more than you later. Sure at the beginning when things are simpler the AI comes out strong but as complexities arise that they can't manage as well... ultimately you'll probably have them benefit more. BUT, if you find that's not true on a Deity game, that you're always a little behind, and you want it to still be even more challenging, then yes, TD, WFL, turn 'em both off.
