Hey does anybody else have Stronghold Crusader? It's a really fantastic RTS based on the crusades.

I'm to level 49 on the Crusader trail missions, but that's after using all of my chickens:blush:

I borrowed it from a friend a year ago I think, and really liked it. I was okay at it, I think I got stuck at like 25 on the Crusader trail. There are two newer Stronghold games out now, but I haven't played them. I liked to play on certain maps where one player started on a hill with lots of resources and good defenses, and 3 or 4 other players started in poorer positions surrounding the hill, but were on a team against the hill player.

I have it, never really took the time to learn it completely and be able to be an expert at it.

While I really liekd the assassins and two wall heights, I didn't like that you couldn't build right aghainst the edge of a cliff, also it just seemed too much like Age of Empries than stronghold and didn't have the Siege game type. Stronghold 1 is still the best one of the series, but crusader's fine. Stronghold 2 is okay, has soem nice changes but the units and some buildings graphics are bad and combat hasn't chagned at all. I'm not even going to bothwer with Legends.

Ahh, Stronghold, must play that again soon. The site heavenGames has an excellent Stronghold site.

I played Stronghold. Crusader, being basically the same thing, i never tried it.

I play it, but I didn't really get too far into the Crusader missions. I take far too long to attack the enemy, and I don't build my military until I'm under attack for some reason.

Keep saying: "I'm just going to build this [whatever] and then I'll build up my military." And I repeat this until I come under attack.

I do however have a knack for building some pretty freakin' awesome fortresses.

Good game.

Too easy IIRC build forward towers with small backwall giving it all round defence. then pack in missle troops.

Another problem is there were only 3 AI personalities who actually new how to play the game.

I can't really remeber all of them, I think it was Thw Wolf, and Richard the LionHeart. I can't remember the other, actually I think maybe there were two others.

Which ones?

He probably means the Wolf, Lionheart, and Saladin...
Wolf=Best all around lord, best castle, and excellent economy, and military, but starts fairly slowly...
Lionheart=Good lord, weak castle, fair economy, and strong military, and starts much quicker than the Wolf.
Saladin=Best economy, second best, and extremely strong castle, and fair military, starts slowly...
I also consider several other AIs to be good under certain circumstances...
Caliph=Weak economy, strong military, and decent castle. Basicaly if you use catapults you can take him out easy, but if you don't his fire will stop any number of troops you throw at him.
Pig=Weak castle, decent economy, and strong military... He can attack very hard sometimes...

Anyway, does anybody know how to play online? I've tried, but I can never find any games:( Even when I had a friend get on too, so I think I'm doing something wrong...

Yes, I meant those three, but I agree that Caliph is challenging too. I can't remember the Pig ever giving me problems.

If you get it in the Warchest pack there are like 16 AI characters.

The Emir and the Wolf are the best, the Rat and Sultan are the worst.

If you get it by it'self you still get however many AI charactors but what they are saying is that only 3 or 4 actualy know how to play the game.

Great game! I spent numerous hours playing it. It's still installed on my comp., but I don't play it much wright now.
