Stronghold!

What do you think of this game. Can a Civ addict love this game?

Although there's no link with Civ, but being a strategy game (RTS though ) I guess any strategy addicted person should like it. I guess you're talking about the game that has been released several months ago, not about the other Stronghold, from SSI (this was a Heroes/Warlords like game, from 1994 if I remember).

It's very deep, the microeconomy and micromanagement has been well thought including the interface, which is quite easy, despite all the possible options. I would definitely recommend it, yes. It's still available in any good store so rush!

PS: you can also try the "old" stronghold, which is more heroic fantasy
PS: If you like those kind of games, try the old Knight and merchants, and probably Castles: Siege and conquest. Very old, maybe abandonware. At least Castles.

Yes I was talking about the one released few months ago. (Building a castle is the subject I think).

PS: I don't like old games very much. After Civ3 came out, I couldn't play Civ1 again. Latest is the greatest. But thanks for suggestions.

I tried Stronghold but didn't like it much....the graphics seemed a step back from what is the current standard. Also didn't seem like much fun to me....your mileage may vary.

Seems that a new patch has been released, fixing some MP stability problems and enhancing some gameplay concepts. Of course it won't work on ripped versions, though.

innitially, i liked it, but it quickly became boring - you don't start the next level with the castle you built the previous level, so it gets frustrating to have to do the same thing over and over and over again every level -
also, the ai does the same thing at the same time every level - so if you lose a level the first time, you know the exact place and the exact numbers they will attack you with next time - so it gets old real quick
plus the levels are pretty repetative
in all, i was pretty disappointed - looks like it could have been a great game, but came up short

I actually like it very much, although the replayability isn´t as high as in other strategy games.
The implemented ideas are fun, the campaigns nice and the AI can be a challenge.

Overall it is a medium game, but worth a buy.

No, seriously, I think it would be sold as a budget it would have met a larger success. I can understand non hardcore gamer people will be reluctant to purchase such a game. It's quite complex, although not as complicated as Settlers.

I bought the game. It is fun. I liked the graphics and the musics. The game has a different taste.
But as "andyo" said; this game could be much more better.

I didn't play the game too much yet. But it is really well designed and they found a really good subject. But as far as I see the game is not complicated so it can not be addictive as Civ.

If I play a little more, I can comment on what more should have been done specifically. But as I said the game is really fun to play. They found a really good subject to build a game on.
