Stuck PLEASE HELP

I am really confused. Ok i am by no means a noob in gaming or to Civ but I started the single player campaign and have defeated everyone on my contenent and now have no idea where to go. I have complted alot and just have units cluttering the map but when i click diplomacy it says there are 2 other city-states in a far away land...In my advisory it says to search the sea for more city-states but i have travled the whole parmiter of the map...what do i do?

Have u got a caravel and searched all areas of the water on the map? I didn't know about that either until i got a caravel and put it on auto explore.

Caravel is a unit that can travel on ocean (rather than just coast). It becomes available when you get the technology "Astronomy" i believe... I forget.
Then you can give it an order (in the hidden section of the unit orders bar) to explore automatically. It will go out and clear the Fog of War.

If you don't know what a caravel is I'm guessing you in fact are a newbie to civ. Nothing wrong with that. It's the first naval unit that can cross the ocean. It's been in every single game of civilization I've ever played.
