Why is it the ai can move into my terrority and not get affected movement wise? But for me it is ? Im playing game and i got totally screwed because of it. And yes, they are 1 movement units, but with roads they still move like it was normal territory. Also ,fortresses blow. They dont do what the book/civilopedia says they do!!! Can anyone tell me why? Why is that happening, for both. Am i forgetting something?! I love the game, but to many lil problems that they should of taken the time to fix up. For intance, making the govenor work correctly. I can tell it to never produce anything for all cities, this way it continues building the untis i want it to build, but it always changes! So ill make it always produce offensive, or defensive, or whatever i want it to be at the time. Yet it changes. These things make me quit the game alot quicker than i would in civ2.

Please help !

Andy

ps:in the diplomatic screen, why didnt they just put the color of the civ next to the name ? Would that be so difficult?

You cannot take advantage of the enemy's movement bonus on his territory, I think. This is the case in war anyway.

And the enemy CIV's colour show's on the circular frame of his picture.

If you have trouble discerning the citizen's happiness colour,
try the superb "coloured population heads" MOD in the customization forum! it's cool!

I think he's talking about the enemy taking advantage of his roads during war. I;ve noticed this too. you can only move 1 square at a time but the comp doesn't have to.....

Its a pity that instead of putting the effort in making the AI better they simply resort to cheating.

The higher you play (chief, regent, etc) the more the AI cheats. Thats pretty sad actually. There have been many proven instances of cheating by the AI on all levels but on the diety it is simply out of control.

Too bad really I totally love the Civ games. I wish they would make a worthy AI.

(my favourite is when you watch the AI move the same worker back and forth between two tiles over and over and over and over again....:crazyeyes

Actually the civ3 team purposely made the AI cheat FOR you at chieftan and warlord, no cheating at regent, and cheating AGAINST you at the higher levels

Fortresses add a defensive bonus for all units on the same square as it. Yes, it works. Trust me. Ive seen enough elite infantry in a fortress take out mech infantry to know this for a fact.

Civilopedia said Fortress has a Zone of control. It doesn't work in usual Civ1&2 way... :) Because the term ZOC has changed. See Civilopedia for details. :):):)

I play at Emperor level and everything seems to work fine. Fortresses do give a defense bonus and units in fortresses get a 'free shot' when enemy units move pass them. AI cant use your roads and railrroads unless you have given them ' Right of Passage'.
In one of my games i was playing as Japanese. There was a war between the Indians and the Chinese. The Indians had to pass through my territory to get to the Chinese. They were begging me for the 'right of passage'. i gave them but for quite a price!!

I have also never encountered the deady phalanx till now.
