Most of the inappropriate threads created in Civ4 - C&C - Mod Components today come from new users who don't scroll down and see that questions are supposed to be put in the main forum.

I suggest a new subforum named "Questions" or "Modding Questions" placed on top of the existing subforums so that new users don't continue to do this.

The stickies in the forums just aren't doing the job.

I don't like it. The Civ 4 Creation and Customization Forum is full of sub-forums. It seems like there's too many of them right now, why add another?

If they already aren't putting their threads in the right forum, why will creating another forum to put them in work? Won't the posters just continue on their trend of misplacing them?

edit: So yes, I'm against this. Just report them and have the mods move them.

I like the Questions sub forum idea, in general the sub-fora here are one of the sights strengths not its weakness.

I'm shure their will be noobs who dont even notice it but that just cant be helped, an obvious name like "Moding Questions" will atleast act as a finer net with which to catch the small minded. A "Moding Requests and Ideas" forum would also be a nice idea as their are lots of mis-placed requests. Moving the existing request threads their would be the logical thing to do.

I agree with Ginger_Ale.

Now you know why we have a Report Post button. ;)

Which is obviously not working out too well. Warnings to one new user won't help with the next one. Besides, moderators have more important things to do. And I don't want to spend time reporting so many misplaced threads. If you have a better idea, please suggest it.

I realize extra forums have their downsides too (more duplicated threads etc.). But I think in this case, I agree (except for spelling). Of course, it won't work as well if the new forums are not at the top of the list.

One other thing, experienced users will search, use the database, subscribe to threads, etc. It is the new users (I won't call them noobs) who will benefit most from the extra forums as they can find what they are looking for most easily. And a warning isn't exactly a good starting experience.

People overly concerned with issues such as these must have wonderfully nice lives.

A sub forum for questions won't stop them from posting them in the wrong forum. If they miss the red words telling them not to post in the sub forums then the are just as likely to miss the questions sub forums. Just like the fact that I have 1 post in the entire civ4 section from like a year ago doesn't stop people from sending emails and Pms saying they noticed my vast exprince modding civ4 and could use my help.

Dunno and don`t care about 4, but I`d support this for Civ3 ;)

Agreed. I've created plenty of stupid question threads. :)
But if a new sub forum for civ3 is not wanted, then maybe just a "Modding questions" thread that should be stickied.

Isn't that exactly what I said?

I'm against something like this for the Civ 3 forums. As it is the main C&C forum has some interesting threads, and quite a lot of newbie questions. If it was only questions I don't think I could stand it, if there wasn't some interesting threads to break it up. I just don't see the reason why anyone else than the person asking the question would look at this sub forum. Besides, there'd be a lot of grey areas, between "modding questions" and your regular modding discussions.
