KD - Whoops! I meant Monarch. :D

Kramer - Have you ever played a succession game before?

I noticed that this is your first post, so welcome.

Donsig, Knight-Dragon and myself have played 5 together so far, and though we keep things light-hearted and fun, it will be a challenging game.

If you are OK with playing on Monarch difficulty, then please post a confirmation.

6 games I think. 2 German, 1 'Prussian', 1 Roman, 1 Chinese and 1 Babylonian. ;)

Ahhhh, the pleasures of old age. :p

No!

You will not tempt me this time! Nope, not joining! Joespaniel should know why...

Aw, touching how you didn't include me in that list... ;) Though I only played two of them Straight.

Joe do you ever check your PMs?:) ;)

Ohwell - I just got your PM, and Im glad you got a new job.

I understand you are busy, so I will drop you from all the SGs per your request.

Good luck!

Kramer - youre #4. Welcome. :D

Alright! I'm going to get started. If a #5 comes on-board after, thats fine.

The Americans

The first scouts set out from our new town (named after Georgetown in DC, not me :D) and almost immeadiately find minor tribes.

An Illinois settler wishes to join our despotism. They must have a really bad leader to want to join a despotism , however we dont ask questions but instead welcome our new brothers.

The town of Charleston is founded near cattle and wheat on a river. Settler factory, big time. Workers are hired first before warriors are trained.

Another scout also brings news of friendly settlers who want to join us as we simultaneously meet the Indians. They have an alphabet, but want Masonry, Pottery and 40 gold for it. We politely decline.

Richmond is founded in a location designed to keep the Indians from expanding towards us.

3600 BC and we already have 3 cities! [dance]

We meet the French! They trade us Alphabet for Pottery and 17 gold!

Our scouts bring back knowledge of Ceremonial Burial.
Undertakers everywhere rejoice.

We just about explore the entire continent, as our scouts move so quickly.
Ivory is found north of us, kind of close to France. We decide to make a run for it, our scouts are currently blocking the way of French settlers who have set their sights on it too.
Charleston is nearly finished building a settler and a warrior escort is ready to travel to the ivory.
Lets get it! Leave the scouts where they are and the French will dance around them.

My final acts were founding Newport and Grand Rapids (both of which need irrigation right away, workers are road-ing up to them now) and another trade with Joan of Arc.
We get Warrior Code and Bronze Working for 50 gold. Nice, eh? I think she must like us.
:love2:

Georgetown has a temple and is building a granary (Sirian must have rubbed-off on me :D) as it has limited growth potential. Charleston doesnt need one, but our other cities will eventualy.

I will let someone else decide what Great Wonders we should build. I am personaly a big fan of TGL, but Pyramids might be the smart move here. Either way, we should start it now, in Georgetown (after the granary is done).

Lets try to maintain good relations with our neighbors, but without giving away tech to freely. Make 'em earn it.

We are closing in on writing, map making should be our next goal. That way we can get off this rock and see who's out there.

*helpful-hint* Do not trade maps or tech when its the AIs turn. Ever. They will trade it to everyone they can right then and there.
Wait til its OUR turn and then trade all known civs at once for their maps and $$$.

Donsig is up, I hope he builds Rochester on the ivory. ;)
If not, the plains outside Georgetown look good too.

I think that hill NW of the wheat north of Grand Rapids is suitable for a city too. Will link up with city sites 1 and 3 and cover up our border with whoever's on the other side. ;)

preturn: Hey, there's already a Newport. That was my second city name!

2270 BC: France builds Lyon near one of our proposed city sites.:(

2190: Americans can write. :)

2150: American settlers head for the mouth of the Genesee River.

2110: French settlers leave Paris headinf west!

2070-2030: The race to the Genesse is on. Two of our scouts become blockers.

1990: Road to Grand Rapids is complete.:)

1950: Road to Newport is complete. Incense discovered in the wild north east. :) :)

1910: the race to the Genesee goes on...

1870: Inca's camp nets 25 gold as land is spotted across the channel!

1830: The French settlers, stymied by our scouts, builds Tours in the desert!

1790: America enters the iron age. There is ore near Grand Rapids. Rochester is founded on the Genesee near Tours.

1750-1700: Road building...

1675: Another settler leaves Paris and heads east. Forth Worth founded really close to Paris.

1650: Americans learn to use the wheel. Maybe someday they will drive cars. French settlers head south! Three scouts take up blocking positions.

1625: French warrior and settler right next to the undefended Fort Worth. Joan is polite...

1600: French settlers and warriors move away from Fort Worth! Roads built to Richmond and Rochester. [dance]

I started many temples more for lack of knowing what else to build. Most should probably be switched but the ones close to France should be built.

So, there's alot of southern city names with Grand Rapids mixed in. Where'd Newport come from joespaniel? I was going to use that because my little brother lives there (the one in North Carolina). He introduced me to the original civ many years ago. He's also up in NY for a couple days. I'm giving him his first look at Civ III tomorrow. Well, actually today. I have to get up in 3 hours to get my son off to school. Better get some sleep now. Prussia will have to wait till tomorrow - I mean later today.

Donsig, you just love to build right up to other civs capitols, dont you.

Thats OK. France is hardly an aggressive neighbor. Good turns.

OK, we have lots of scouts to load on our galleys once we start exploring the seas. Lets use them.

I think we should start some wonders now. Pyramids and Colossus would be nice.

Newport should be switched to a worker. All of our plains-cities need their own to irrigate and allow growth.

Good luck Knight-Dragon. Lets get "expansionist". ;)

Donsig, you just love to build right up to other civs capitols, dont you.

I was tempted to admonish you not to give our cities away but I was hoping you wouldn't notice how close I was building to Paris. Anyways, I can't help it if the dumb computer puts its capitol right next to where I want to build a city! Besides, we're expansionist!

Having 3 scouts is good. I had one close enough to Paris to see the settlers leave and tracked them all the way. The AI gives in to blocking attempts by building in bad spots. They were going for the river and settled in the desert instead. I love it.;)

Very good use of the scouts donsig. I kept them from the ivory for a long time that way.

Im not giving up any cities to France. ;)
Theyre weaker than us! :hammer:

Lets cash in on that ivory now, I see our settler is almost there. :)

We can also start sailing around soon, looking for good colonies sites to build on. Make sure to have a scout on each galley.

If we make contact with other civs, we can save that and trade contact for technology later.

Lets get Georgetown working on the Pyramids after its settler is done. Have another city send a warrior for martial law while construction is underway.
