Sucession game - LK4.

Unless there is some other player who is looking to jump in, I'll go ahead and play this evening.

I think that my aims at conquest will center on the Iroquois. The Americans were the only "other" continent civ to have saltpeter, and I'm hoping that the best the others can muster for defense are pikemen. Plus, the Iroquois were being very cheeky during my reign, and had I not taken pity on the Germans they may have wiped them out entirely. As it was they took up some extra space, so unless things have changed drastically during the past two reigns, I think that's where I'll begin. I seem to recall that they had some luxuries that we could use as well.

We'll see if this will end things.

Kev,

You may as well move. No sense adding another player for a single round of play.

I think we only need to capture a couple of cities for domination. I am sure the rest of our borders on the main continent are seals. We have to be very close.

Well, I had a chance to play the turns and guess what.... we won.

No mystery there, we won by dominance in 1550. I'll do the write-up and post the final save this evening.

Thanks for all of the military units! My gosh, there were a ton of them!

Been a pleasure serving with all of you.

I knew we were close.

That is why even a peacemonger like me took out Greece in under 20 turns :) - Also why I rush built all those temple in ex-Greece cities. I want the cultural lock.

Well 4 of my 5 succession games have ended:goodjob:

:crazyeyes - The 5th will end as soon as the next play moves. :crazyeyes

In the ancient era, it was HoHoTep. The red-wearing, white bearded jolly old Egyptian who knew that Ramses were better than Trojans and began the conquest of the Romans.

In the middle ages, it was HoHumTep. The peacetime ruler who helped prepare for the final invasion of the non-Egyptian lands.

Now, as Egypt prepared to enter into the industrial age TheyGoTep became the leader of a very well prepared Egyptian military. Still based in a Democracy, TheyGoTep felt some militaristic exploits would put him in good stead for the next presidential elections.

In truth, his exploits allowed Egypt to dominate the entire world.

After taking over the armies in 1485, the following year the Theory of Gravity was discovered. It was then that TheyGoTep coined the phrase “They’re going DOWN!” His influence steers new technology toward steam engine as railroads could greatly enhance the military’s mobility.

TheyGoTep was very appreciative of his last three predecessors. They left him a military that was surely the finest and the most numerous in the land. The only decision was who to conquer first. TheyGoTep likes the idea of taking on the Iroquois first. They are the number 2 civilization behind Egypt, mostly thanks to the taking of several German cities. Yes, they would be a foe worth fighting – even though they had no saltpeter to produce gunpowder.

In 1505, TheyGoTep had his ships and troops at the ready. He had the ships fanned out so they could take all four Iroquois cities on the east coast of the continent. He landed near all four, and when Hiawatha blustered about MAKING them leave, TheyGoTep called his bluff.

1510 the war officially began. Steam Power was discovered and the new militaristic science division began to study Nationalism. Hiawatha sent what he had at the Egyptian forces which had established beachheads. Knights, longbowmen and pikemen were the only units that could be mustered. They did have some success, however, as they wounded several units outside of Grand River and even defeated a cavalry regiment. No matter, the counter-attack was on.

In 1515, TheyGoTep took 3 of the 4 cities that he had his sights on. Salamanca, the capital, was first to go and this was the only city with iron. No more knights for YOU! The new capital was formed at Niagra Falls. Frankfurt then fell – the only city that was even close to saltpeter. The former German citizens did not resist at all. Cattaragua, the northernmost coastal city, also fell. Grand River, with its apparently super-pikemen, was the only city that survived – thanks to the concentration of the initial Iroquois attack. It would fall soon.

1520: TheyGoTep’s troops began to move inland. Leipzeig was taken. The great leader, Khufu, emerges from this battle. TheyGoTep, apparently threatened by this new upstart, sends him to the mainland to help build a wonder or something.

1525: Continuing their march west, the Egyptians take Allegheny. The coastal city of Grand River finally falls in this year as well.

1530: The new capital of Niagra Falls is taken. Only the city of Koningsberg is left and it is surrounded.

1535: Koningsberg is taken and the unhappiness that was becoming a problem on the mainland is no more. With two new luxuries and an end to the war, everyone is happy, and TheyGoTep is looked upon with awe. A rush-building program of temples is instituted in all taken cities, and TheyGoTep looks north.

Hmmm… The Germans have only two cities. And look, Berlin has The Oracle, the Hanging Gardens, The Great Wall and Leonardo’s Workshop. Four wonders with one city, that could be nice.

1545: TheyGoTep rushes the two German cities. Due to the hills, his troops can only get to Berlin in this year, but he takes the city and its 4 wonders.

1550: The announcement comes to TheyGoTep from on high. The god Ra lands to Earth in a huge sunburst and speaks to the Egyptian general:

YOU HAVE WON A DOMINATION VICTORY.

Well, guys, that does it. I’ve attached the last save game. Before victory is declared, you’ll have to deal with calls from the English and the American. The English want our troops out of her land – best to agree. The Americans want a ROP and MPP. I refused and then traded for their dyes. I think I gave them horses, iron and economics – I didn’t care too much then as I knew we were close to victory.

I mention this because those two interactions could have an effect on the final score if done differently. Given what I did, here is where we ended:

Score = 2807. Next closest were the Iroquois at 431.
Date = 1550. Victory by Dominance
Cleopatra the Great.

It was fun while it lasted. I’ll look to join another game, I think. Hope to see you all in future games.

This game was very fun, both of you, and all who also played in this game. Now I am down to two SSG, and the beloved German one is ending soon, the ROman one is taking forever for somebody to play...

A great short story Kev! Nice game Lee:D :goodjob:

Oops, I think I attached the wrong zip. Here's the right one.

Glad you had fun, Ohwell. Good luck in your other games.
