No history articles are going to end up there - they're already listed for all time in History.

Neither are unit threads from Civ3 C & C.

Nor staff threads.

The list will grow, as I think about it.

but while were at it, could we add a historical map exibit, pleeeeese :D
No.

At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is my boss'. :p

So, TF, what do you think? :)

Why no old staff threads? What harm could it cause for us ordinary posters to see them when they're two years old? Honestly, we could probably learn a lot about the early history of the site there. I don't think that you should show us anything even close to recent, or anything that could cause problems to the site if we saw them, but is there any good reason to keep something like staff posts forever secret from us?

I do confess to the large amount of curiousity that stems both from the fact that I'm a curious person and that I will almost certainly never be a mod.

@XIII- if there is to be no historical articles, then whats it purpose?, after all, all the best civ# stuff is put up in an article in a non-forum section of the site, and most of the stuff in OT is hardley worth preserving, if any of it at all....

i would happy support this if it lead to a clean up of the War academy.

there is no doubt that the WA is one of the best resources for improving game play, but many of the articles are now so out of date that they are misleading.

Preserve their great history worth but remove them from where they are just the junk in the back cupboard.

Goes to show you haven't been around too long... ;)

I'd like to preserve the first successfully run Civ3 Succession Game - the one I partook in. :D

And the first Civ3 PBEM - that didn't really take off. :p

For OT threads, yeah like G-man's suggested posts. Plus off-hand, Rodgers' 'Do you wear women's underwear?' and 'Do you read in the toilet?' threads. That's a sampling of the hilarious stuff of the Old Guard. :p

Oh yeah, and the legendary Zulu Wars must definitely be archived. :D

Even I have not seen them... :)

XIII- Hey, dont forget us NES players! Include rtor2, the longest thread at CFC ever! (5000 posts!) And include the first NES, fittingly titled 'NES'.

I'm all for it so long as it includes threads that were locked. I can't belive that stuff from the staff forums isn't going to be open. :(
Almost to 300

After all, we only became mods in order to read those threads ;)

Indeed. That's about the only incentive for us. :p

I spent long ages digging thru those stuff... :mischief:

hm.. ok this sin't very important. But, anyway. I voted wrong by mistake. I checked the no button insted of the yes button. But I now feel that I like this idea. The score should be:

Yes...29
No....2

I guess I just automativcally vote No on every new idea....

I've said it before, and will say it again.

No staff threads. Nil. Zip. None.
I know that you have said that but you haven't given a good answer as to why not. Is there one?

Yes and no. :)

It'd be nice to have a forum, where each mod can post a historical thread as it comes along, but, Thunderfall can do the same with a seperate page linked from the main site. In fact, the news posting script could be tweaked seperately for that purpose.

Remote webpage editing. I've seen it done elsewhere years ago. :) (only, it was java).

Yes, and when doing archiving those threads will be gone too. This project is to preserve those threads for all eternity, or at least until the end of CFC. :p

Also good to gather in one place, all the interesting old ones.
