This game comes out today and i'll probably go get it later. I'm usually not a fan of RPGs, but this one looks good so i'll give it a try. Anyone else out there planning on getting this game?

No, thats Galaxies

Single player - yes
RPG - I don't know. I haven't heard too much about it, but napoleon leads us to believe its an RPG, so maybe

Yep, 'tis a Bioware RPG, like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.

I played it and didn't really like it as much as I hoped. I guess I'm not as much of an RPG person as I thought.

Nitpick: Bioware made Baldurs' Gates 1+2 and NeverWinter Nights, but Icewind Dale was made by Black Isle Studios, the in-house RPG development house at Interplay (which used to be Bioware's publisher). Black Isle has made some of the best RPGs ever, such as Fallout 1+2, and Planescape: Torment.

Anyhow, as to KOTOR, it looks pretty impressive. If I have any free time when it comes out for PC, I'll probably pick it up. By then it should be pretty clear if it's better written than the NWN single-player campaign.

Fantastic game, for me anyway, but I'm a huge fan of both Star Wars & BioWare's other RPGs (Baldurs Gate & NWN).

Its Star Wars connection is pretty lose, beyond using the same lingo, aliens and the existance of Jedi there is really nothing familiar in the game, or nothing that couldn't have come from stock sci-fi.

It is definately an RPG, as your reaction time will have no bearing on the game. They did a fantastic job of making it LOOK like it does, particularly with melee combat. It seems like lots of forethought was put into balancing different playing styles, so if you want to be an evil rampage killer or an angelic pacifist both are pretty well set up.

The system is very similar to Neverwinter Nights with look & feel, except many portions of the game have been streamlined to speed things up (like an automatic return to hide-out, return to last point option), and you can now have two cohorts with a pretty good amount of control over each of them. The characters are much more interesting than in most RPGs, with above average dialogue and voice acting.

I think I've gone to the old Republic.

I can't pull myself away for more than 10 minutes :wallbash:

Its MUCH better than NWN. It has a similar style, but the ridiculous story & party set up has been improved to infinity.

The only bad thing is that NWN doesn't work on my computer. :( Which means that until I get a decent graphics card, I won't be able to play it. Hopefully I'll have a better card before it gets released here.

I take that back...I actually bought the game and love it!!! It's an awesome game that took me 38 hours to beat. :p (I couldn't stay away from the game...) I beat it with the strategy guide of course. :p
