Hi there,

I bought Civilization IV recently. I installed the game, with no errors reported. But when I launch the game and the loading bar appears, my system restarts without any notification!!!

I’ve been looking for similar problem in the forum, but I couldn’t find any, so if you have any ideas what’s wrong with my case, please let me know.

My system specifications are:

3.2 GHz intel P4 Dual Core. 2 MB Cash Memory. 1 GB RAM.
256 MB nVIDIA 6600 G-FORCE.
Windows XP Professional SP2.

Using CIV 4 Patch 1.61

Your help is appreciated,
Thanks in advance

The reboot is caused by the setting in XP that says on a critical error to reboot. You should turn this off - that means that instead of a reboot, you'll get a blue screen of death, but at least it might have some info about what is causing the problem.

To change the recovery settings to disable automatic rebooting:

1.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2.
Click the Advanced tab.

3.
Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

4.
Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

5.
Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.
