Tactics and strategy...follow the action

yea strange...that free beacker is before or after pre req multipliers are applied?

Also is it every turn or just the first?

Every turn, in your capital specifically, before all multipliers.

But in any case it's 8(palace)+2(tiles)+1(free)=11*1.2=13.

Hmmm...I opened up the game and discovered that Babylon has changed his name to "LetsScrap?". I also got the message that he has retired from the game?!?

yea letsscrap is the name of one of their players...he propably kicked himself to ai and then reclaimed civ to change his password

OK I have calculated the time needed for bronze and it seems that we willget it in 6 turns regardless of whether Natives save gold from third turn.

Of course the overflow to archery will be less so we will get archery 1 turn later.

So in the cost of delaying archery...and every other tech after that for 1 turn, natives will get a chance to upgrade a warrior to a dog and cause some damage or at least slow down significantly his closest civ (if there is one).

It is a gamble...it might pay off or not...what do you say?

It's not as simple as 1 turn later everything. We'll be 40 beakers down or whatever it is, which could be more than or less than 1 turn, later on. It will depend on our tech rate at that point. Also we will make some of those beakers back by being 1 turn behind on some of the early techs, and getting an extra 1.15 modifier from 'known civs with this tech'.

I say we go for it. Chances are good that we will make up our 40 gold investment and more by messing up an opponents development (and we'll still have the dog solider, so the investment won't be a throw away regardless).

PS Moved the scout 2E just to check there were no hidden resources in the 3 fogged tiles in the original starting location's BFC (nope) then settled on the plains hill as planned, revealing... more corn! Not in the BFC of course .. but the zulus will have plenty to eat. :)

It is 60 beakers not 40, 53 gold.

played my turn...

I think we got abit lucky Dan!

Lets hope they got lucky with land as well because the :hammer: I will get from Krill and the civplayers guys I am not sure I can handle :scared:

I noticed 2 partners have their civplayers nick.
Was it their choice or the host computer recognized them and changed back their names?

the name is whatever name you use when you log in the game...you can put Alexander the great if you want.

Also I will make a thread for general queries and please use that one for any future ones so we can keep this one relevant in the game :)

Settled Mutal on Plains hill. Moved Scout east to hill. Chose growth over Warrior in 3 --- mistake? Fell free to log in for me and change if it is. Late for work. Screenshot attached. END TRANSMISSION.

Warriors aren't a waste in a 5v5, you need them to either defend a choke, or preferably make the choke on the player nearest you. And that's what makes plains hills so nice in these settings.

Krill is right...but i would suggest that Munro (zulu) works the lake for the next 2 turns until borders pop and can work the 3 food tile. That is because he will grow size 2 1 turn sooner and will have worker 1 turn sooner.

Well, we got lucky with that placement. Egypt isn't likely to rush Maya with War Chariots. If Egypt does have horse be wary of a 2v1 attack on the other side.

"English instructions are ruined, must use French instructions. Le grille, what the hell is that?"

We have some awesome commerce capabilities, should we have the chance of survivng long enough to use them.

OK, just logged in to see the Egyptian Scout. Any thoughts on where my scout should go? I am thinking due east to get a look at their capital. They'll be getting a look at Mutal, possibly next turn.
