Talking to ICQ users on AIM.

I have been trying to talk to a friend who has ICQ on AIM and can't add them to my buddy list, I get an error message everytime I try. How can I fix this. I am using AIM 6.

you can try using a client such as pidgin which allows you to be connected to many protocols at once. That way, you'll be able to talk to contacts from both AIM and ICQ.

But you need an account for each service. stickciv forgot to mention that.

I kinda assumed that one would know about having accounts for each service. Other than that, there is no way to inter-tie them. They're simply not compatible.

ICQ and AIM are different chat protocols. There is no way to integrate them (use one to connect to the other). As GB pointed out above there are clients (such as trillian and pidgin) that allows connecting to two different protocols simultaneously, but you will still need a separate account for each one.
