Tanks got a deserved buff with Lightning Warfare. There's actually a reason to make tanks now instead of aircraft. The extra movement plus being able to ignore the enemy zone of control makes them extremely effective in cleaning up other ground units. Just attack, pillage and return: most of the time, the tank will be at full health and out of reach of infantry and artillery or cities in the backline.
Well, but why make tanks instead of aircraft? Tanks live through nukes. I lost my entire air force twice to nukes, then I stopped bothering making any more aircraft. Plus it's much easier to avoid accidental losses with tanks than with aircraft.
