I apologise for my brief, and perhaps a little unkind, response. This question does seem to arise with great regularity, though the ways people use to describe it vary enough that it's not easy to define a search that will find all the instances without retrieving the whole site thread list.
The readme always used to be there, so I was *trying* to be helpful
. Sounds like they've dropped it from the current Windows installer, which seems like a bad idea. I'm sure I've even seen Cracker refer previous enquirers to it. It's still there in my Mac installers.
This delayed reply is due to the fact that I tried to use the search facility here to track down a post I submitted a little while ago for you. It included a screenshot of the file structure on my mac, marked up to show where the files are that need to be swapped. While I was searching (maybe even *because* I was searching) the CFC server disappeared from the Internet and I went back to playing the current game. I never found my original post, so it may have been consigned to the Great Bit Bucket in the Sky.
Anyway, your powers of deduction have come to your rescue, and it sounds as if you've done exactly what is required. Well done.
