These are the traditional duties and powers of all ministers:

Post polls and discussions to determine citizen desires for departmental policies, plans and agendas.
Cast a tie-breaking vote in the polls determining their departmental policies, plans and agendas.
Formulate departmental policies, plans and agendas based on citizen feedback.
Formulate departmental policies, plans and agendas of their own in the absence of citizen feedback (forum outage, low participation, etc).
Convey these policies, plans and agendas to the President for play in the game.

These are the duties of the Technology Department:

Organize tech research queue.
Organize tech trades.
Organize tech espionage.

I will second Immortal and Stuck As a Mac.

Ill Third them both.

I'll second truckingpete.

Question for the Candidates:

What Tech will we research first? Which, in your opinion should be second? Third?

Of all the Technologies in the Ancient Age, which is the most significent to a Japanese society?

*Well I would like to research straight to the Great Library. Then if some civs have a tech we dont have we would get it right away. Then research Philosopy to get a few free techs.*

Of all the Technologies in the Ancient Age, which is the most significent to a Japanese society?

*Well the Ceremonila Burial one because we are reglion civ?*Did I Answer the Question right???

I nominate Strider, he was it for a good few terms and was good at it no matter what else happened. if he comes back

We start with The Wheel and Ceremonial Burial. 2 nice techs, but nothing more than just nice. The killer tech in general is Pottery. Population = Power. Unless we are extremely lucky to be starting in a wheat and cow filled river-bed I'd go for Pottery first. Or better said: I'd organise discussions and polls to outline the importance of pottery. Ultimately; those things are decided by the citizens.

2nd tech: Bronze, 3rd: Iron. Iron is so important to our nation that we need to spot it quickly.

Japan is a nation of faith and power. The holy books and the holy sword. The quick, but incorrect, answer would be Iron Working or Polytheism. The correct answer is however: Code of Laws. Both the faith and the power require rules. "Bushido" is a widely known example.

Three questions I'm going to put in every nomination thread (except FA, as I'm running there):

1. Are you running for multiple positions?

2. If you answered yes to the above question, what positions are you running for, and in what order would you accept them if you win multiple elections?

3. If this position is not your first choice as answered in question 2, why should we vote for you here, knowing that our vote may be wasted if you win another election?

Bootstoots' questions

1) Yes, I run for Science and the Military.

2) I prefer Military.

3) I am asked for this position by trusting, experienced citizens who know I've done an excellent job in this in previous DemoGames. I've organised discussions on every matter and asked what the citizens want. I've made my opinion clear on why I think a certain science-path I suggest is better than alternatives, without losing myself in arrogance and with an open eye and ear to them. I am a very democratic candidate; in the end I am a servant to the nation; the people decide and I follow their decision. Science can be very important in the early parts as it is the basis of our unit-capabilities, our build-possibilities, our exploration tactics and our trade-possibilities. Since I am asked for this; it proves the nation wants and needs me. I feel it is my obligation to not disappoint the nation. That's why I run and that's why you should vote for me.

1. Yes, The judiciary, FA, Culture, and Science.

2. I have no "order" of preference, I have no idea which elections I stand a chance of being elected in, when I have a better idea of that, then I'll pick a preference. Ive been busy organizing the constitution, I simply am running in the positions I know myself to be the best at.

3. See above. Until Election night I am open to all options.
