The Poll sets out to answer the following question:-

Do you agree in principle with entering into Military Alliances against distant civilisations?

My apologies for the two other abortive attempts at this poll. It appears that the original poll question was too long, causing my browser to crash.

No, primarily for the reason that the distant civs can't do anything to us ATM, and an MA requires us to be at war with them for 20 turns, when we can likely sue for peace within 10-15 turns.

Yes, because the distant civs can't hurt us, but we can hurt them by signing MA's

And because it creates a "phony war" where nearby civs will go to the other side of the continent. I would love an alliance with the Dutch against say, Japan. That way, as we attack India (which will take 10-15 turns ATLEAST), the Dutch will have their troops as far away as possible.
