Can we knock it off with all the conspiracy talk? This is supposed to be a game, thus demoGAME! We can vote whoever we want, and anyone can run for office, whether they've been here for 2 years, or 2 days. Let's not have an "old vs new" split -- that is what discourages newcomers.

Your announcement of mentorship to Longasc was probably the worst thing you could have done for the poor guy, as far as the issue of mistrust is concerned. ;)

I have said before that I plan on judging Longasc on his own merit, but his eventual victory here would pretty much prove to be a bloodless coup for the chat contingent.

Maybe no reputation is better than a bad reputation? Give him a chance to improve it. If you never elect him, then you'll never know what we can do. And you say "friend's of Longasc voting for him"...that's not against the rules. All of his votes haven't been from 'friends', they've been from people who want to give him a shot at being Trade Advisor.

Longasc isn't really that 'new' to the demogame like you say Crimso, and he's not being carried into office. He's lurked it, he understands it, and he answered all questions fired towards him. What more can you want?

@Longasc: You obviously know what is going on, as you haven't made any effort and yet you're winning. For the sake of the DG, at least say something about what you're going to do if you are elected. Your post in the nomination's thread was possibly the most half-bummed thing I have ever seen.

And Classical Hero doesn't deserve a chance? Crimso is right, Classical Hero has proven himself dedicated and committed, while we have seen none of Longasc.

And no, I don't think people should be able to show up out of the blue without saying what they're going to do or knowing anything and be able to win an election.

Ginger_Ale was new to the demogame, and got elected pretty quickly. ;) There's no rule that says you have to be in the game for a certain period of time. In fact, excluding those who are new to run is elitist and against the forum rules as well. What some of you are doing here is attacking a new canidate just because he's only been in the demogame a few days. This is not the way to treat new players, otherwise there'll be no one left! Not only does it leave a bad taste in the demogame, it also leaves a bad taste for the forum. Do you want newcomers to say, "That game is elitist! I can't do anything because I'm new!". There shouldn't even BE this argument right now. Let's just all get along and play nicely.

As for players "showing up out of the blue", that's what the debates are for. So what if someone joined at the end of the term. Are you going to make them wait a term?

Hmm...that should tell you something...shouldn't it?

Did I say classical_hero hasn't done a good job? He has. I am saying that we should give Longasc a chance too, even if he hasn't done anything *visible*. They both deserve a chance.

@Crimso: I showed up for the demogame in July. I missed all of August. Essentially, September was my first month. I became a deputy. Next term, I got close to 45% of the votes. I wasn't the most active member. I didn't make any discussions. I posted mainly the the Hairando province thread. Yet I then got elected. There is no requirement for running, and there shouldn't be. If want people to join our game, we have to welcome them.

If you want to make it so that there is a requirement, good luck filling some province next term - there might not be enough people running, due to the requirements you seem to care for.

Come on, CT. When I started this game, I had to pull myself up from my bootstraps just like everyone else. It was 4 months(!) before I finally won a contested election.

Now here comes a candidate that is winning an election sight unseen because he has a strong connection with the chatters! Everyone who has endorsed him here is a chat regular. CT's constant pressing of this matter is undermining this forum-based game.

This is my last post on this topic(unless CT persists), as I do wish Longasc well in this game. But CT....do the new guy a favor and get out of his court. Everyone can see right through it.

Enlighten me, Moss. I notice that you are toe-ing the party line as well. :D

Naw...I'm completely independent...I've been here too long and have seen too many people to sway anywhere but right down the middle. :)

Now as for the chat. People from the chat due to many conversations and interaction with other chatters tend to think highly of each other. Now it can go the other way too. But in a sense...if you get to know someone you are more likely to maybe listen to them. So yes...the people in chat may have a slight advantage. :)

I'm saying that we haven't heard Longasc campaign, AT ALL. None, nadda, zilch, all he has said is "I accept my nomination, vote for me, etc." Maybe if Longasc would tell us what he's for and against there wouldn't be so much fire, but his lips have been sealed.

I closely observed the Demogame for month by now. I know many governors and ministers and regularly chat with them, you should do that, too, probably you would then know me.

And last I checked, this game is forum based, not chat based. And, what qualifications? I see none being put forth.

...due to the requirements you seem to care for.

I never said I had any problem with someone joining late and running. I never said I had any problem with giving any one a chance or an opprotunity. I never said I had a problem with those who made some sort of effort (which I recognize you have, Ginger Ale). Do not get my arguments mixed up with other's.

This is what I have been talking about, along with this:

Cheiftess has turned our arguments and thoughts into a "new DG players vs old DG players", completley misconstruing what we have been saying, and ignoring us at the same time. You're either going along with it or are being completley duped. The fact that you argue this post as an acutal effort makes me believe the former.

Blackheart, I suppose you did not read this post by Longasc, now did you? Now do you have any comments regarding his plan?

Now I am speechless, I had forgotten about the nominations discussion .
But it's funny nonetheless that Longasc will 'strife' to have many working citiznes  .

And don't take this as a personal strike against you Longasc, but it boils down to the fact that I've never seen you on the forums, althought IIRC you have voted on some polls.

Besides that: I think we should acquire new resources, meaning let PROVO INVADE IRAQ... ahem, Babylon!

All I needed to see from Longasc's post was at the very bottom. Now I know I made the right choice!

Seriously. You need to get around more. He has a ton of posts...how could you have not seen him?

Just because some may have not actively participated in DG games before does not mean that they haven't looked in from time to time. And not to mention, if you are so afraid of 'newer' (actually quite senior) members of this forum taking your precious spots maybe you all should learn how to get out the vote a little more.

Quit complaining and whining about losing and start doing something about it.

I agree with Moss here. We, the self-contained citizens of Japanatica, have so far been outplayed by Chieftess and her chat ringers from other parts of CFC. So we need to adapt and move on, blackheart.

I asked for politics and I got it. :) The fun is just beginning..........

I have been watching from the sidelines has gotten me to consider hoping over to the "Non-Chat" Citizens (RL is also a factor into this)

longasc im sorry about not voting for you because you arent active, but i was really tied, so i had to choose something to make a decision on, becuase i know how classical hero works
