I am your Foreign Affairs Minister, again. Thank you for my re-election, again. Looks like we need to start building our industry up, while expanding our borders. That is a must in the world of diplomacy, if we wanted to be taken seriously. Allright folks, take off those war helms. It doesn't mean we can't aid anyone, but we should not get ourselves in another war. We just have to step it up a little in areas mentioned. We still haven't had formal peace with GCA, but we 'know' they would sign a treaty, if there was no combat for several turns. I don't trust them, but we will see if they are telling the truth. Either way, we are going to have a fun and productive term. Yee Ha!

I think the big question this therm is that are we going to come to CGN aid or not? I think not since I do not think it is the right for us to get involved in another's continant's affairs. What do you all think?

I think we should come to aid, if CGN would be crushed without it. If CGN receives defeat after defeat, we would have no choice but to aid them. The survival of their civ ensures the survival of our civ as well as Apolyton's civ. We need t keep that balance over there. I know some may think it isn't our place. It is far away from here, but lets face the facts, they won't stop at CGN, and if they did we wouldn't be able to compete, anyway.

We have a long term agreement with Poly. We have full Diplomatic cooperation, tech cooperation, Right of Passage, a Homeland Security act, a non-aggression pact, a defense pact, etc... all in one treaty. CFC will do everything in coordination with Apolyton and visa versa. The big issue is the aid to CGN. Apolyton's and our greatest concern is the GWT. Our best defense is CGN. Basically, the main goal is to make sure Apolyton and CFC are on the same page, when it comes to 'influencing' the war away from our continent. As for tech dealing, I allow the science minister to do his job. Any message the science minister wants transfered to Apolyton, I would gladly do it, myself.

CGN seems like a friendly nation, however they don't wish to be as cooperative as Apolyton. My goal with them is to open them up more to a more cooperative role. It would benefit them as well as us in the end. Of course, our policy with CGN should be similar to Apolyton's policy.

GWT is beeing too aggressive for my tastes right now. I do not wish to see them grow any stronger then they are now. I will try to find ways to undermine their empire without the use of troops. Obviously, this leads back to the whole aid issue. GWT is big, dangerous, and friendly with GCA.

GCA is no longer a decent threat to us. The only way they can harm us is through war weariness. Their civ is now a joke. It is impossible for them to win. They just want to make sure Apolyton and CFC don't win. They are even doing a lousy job at that. GCA is no longer my fear. It is GWT.

So it all comes down to the one issue people. Please discuss how you feel about possible aid to CGN. It might be the biggest issue this term.
 
I would like to report my name for any positions vacant that require a bit of responsibility as I'm fresh here and looking to get heavily involved as the whole concept of dealing with other ACTUAL real teams performing the same operations as us amazes me as I have been restricted to single player games.
 
Just to confirm,

What action(s) is/are needed for peace between GCA and CFC/APO?

I'm concerned that GCA will use every advantage and loophole to wreak havok upon our nation. We need to have a detailed set of steps that will result in peace. It is as simple as sending a peace treaty to them?

I believe it is if neither side attacks the other for five turns, a peace treaty just to stop war weariness would be signed in game. Any true peace negotiations would have to come after that.

Cool - two questions then.

One, what's the current count?

Two, who needs to initiate it? I don't trust GCA to remember that it's their responsibility, even if it truly is.

Great synopsis, Zarn. I have a feeling that this will be a hot thread in the coming days, so stay prepared. :)

GCA has already made it clear that they will not initiate a peace agreement, so it has to come from us. And since we haven't taken any action against GCA for quite some time, we are free to do so immediately. And I have been assured that GCA will accept.

My only concern is that GCA's redlined Galley(1/3) still remains on our shores, and I am quite positive that Lucky will not disband it as part of the peace agreement. Are we content to let this Galley foul our shores in return for peace?

The only reason I would say yes is if peace will drastically improve our happiness situation. And since a Size 6 city right now contains 3 Happies and 3 Angries, even with 4 luxuries, I would venture to say that peace should definitely make a dent.

What does everyone else think?
 
If dealing with that Galley wasn't part of the arrangement - we're stuck with it.

An option, assuming we have forces nearby, would be to nuke it, wait 5 turns, then declare peace. Alternatively, we could ask mongoose for a ruling on the Galley.

We need the peace, APO needs the peace. GCA is nothing more than a Balkanized country at best - we should just ignore their provocations.

Until we decide it's time to squash them like little, tiny bugs.

For the record, Apolyton has already signed a peace agreement with GCA, effective last turn. I had a short chat with Consul Trip, and will be posting my findings in the new Poly Ambassador thread, which will be opened tonite.
 
As of 460 AD, peace has been sent accepted to GCA. Let's see what happens..........

Also we are due to receive Invention from Apolyton next turn in honor of our "gpt for tech" deal.
 
That's great news.

Does anyone have anything to say about potential aid? I was thinking of starting a poll. So far I have 1) Go to war with GWT 2) Go to war with GWT, if CGN is in need (badly) 3) Aid CGN 4) Aid CGN, if CGN is in need (badly) 5) Abstain. Is there anything I missed?

I'm sorry I was waiting to see what my schedule was like but it isnt good. I have been working 12 hours a day and was also here all night. Plus I always get confused trying to match up the time zones but after rereading your message we are in the same time zone and usually 4pm-7pm would be good just not this week. Do you have a chat channel already setup? I doubt very much that I will make it home tonight and tomorrow is just as bad. I could shoot for Friday 03-19-04 at 4pm.
