Term II-President Thread

ah right my apologies, still that encorporates the same number of hills but also gives us a jungle to worry about and an unworkable desert tile.

It would also give us an ocean/sea tile we couldnt improve.

oh and last turn i played i moved the warrior and he uncovered a hut nearer our capital~4/5 turns away, im going to pop it, hopefully barbs will not be the answer.

edit-would give us 2 sea/ocean tiles.

I like what BH is saying...is that fresh water between the cities or is in sea?

I thik we can produce enough foor to mine all three hills...just dont clear any forest and cut jungle for a good production city. You wont reach a big enough size to "have" to work the dessert tile even if it was workable.

it's sea. naturally ill go with what the majority wants but my idea you get the defensive bonus of the hill also, 3 hills the same as BH's idea, no desert tile and no jungle in the city radius.

OK...welll I can see both and I am indifferent. Anyone else

do your spot BC unless anyone has a better site???

well dont worry folks the city wont be up for awhile :)

im just about to play the turns, take a couple of screenies and lets have a look what we grab from that hut :)

could you get a couple of screen center on with other intersting areas for city 3...we need a cottage spam city soon to start growing our cottages to be usefull. Everyturn that we miss puts us behind. Somethign with at least one food source and very little one food or no food producing tiles..maybe up around the clams.

I figure city 2 is a production center( for now) and city 3 needs to be commerce. City 4 will grab iron.

And just like the buses, none for hours and then 7 come along in minutes.

ok heres what we got from the hut.-

Current city screen-
edit-hmm well this one seems to be missing, ill get one up next turn.

what we found so far-

Heres our science screen thus far- 7 turns till pottery

Heres Robi_D's favourite screen-he's probably better at analysing it than me but ill take a look in the next post-

Couple of follow up posts to come :)

The BH/BC city spot debate- just to clear up any confusion

cityplacements330dy.jpg

My idea is the red dot, BH is the blue dot.

Pluses of my idea
6 forests that = +3health, 3 hills and the defensive bonus of the hill, cows initially under borders
negatives
takes away a sea tile from the capital

Pluses of BH's idea
4 forests=2 health, 3 hills, has copper immediatly inside borders, cows in 5 turns when border boost
negatives- 2 sea tiles which cant be improved and a desert tile which also cant be improved. Also has a jungle tile in the eventual city radius.

k about the demographics screen- some team hasnt been building any units- 5000 is maybe a warrior and a starting military tech.

Land area is perhaps due to the civ with the religion.

Really though i can only make assumptions and as there are a couple of size 4 cities then that could be why we are behind in other areas.

The red dot is better, I just didn't see that upper hill right away, so go with yours
edit: For everyone's reference here is Robi's article on the demographisc

sorry didnt mean to rub it in, just making sure i knew which one you were implying and things:)

red dot..opens up more settling opportunites for the dyes..to run my cottage dye plan. The dye outside the fat cross would be your "happiness" dye and if we want to trade dyes we can always over build a plantation where we had a cottage.

settel that city on the jungle where the word paused is...3 dyes with cottages, one banana, lighhouse on the water, no overlap and you also have 3 hills with 1 food. perfect city for cottages and running enough hammers to build banks and stuff. I dont see another city better for it right now since there is alot of brown and no green river valleys or flood plains..

only other place woudl be up near the clams adn cows and that woudl have to be coastal to get a lighhouse boost.

true but like I said we need cottages quickly otherwise it hurts later on. Delaying iron isnt as critical if we arent fighting since we have copper

yup but if there was a possibility between 2 sites, one with iron in one without i know which i'd choose.

I would say thats the civ with the Religion, since 5000 troops would mean they have not gone for archery or bronze working. The 5000 would be 1000 or 2000 from pop, 2000 for hunting or sailing then 1 or 2 warriors. No doubt they took a risk ignoring the military techs to go for a religion gambling on the fact they would not run into anyone to early

ok turn 36

MM'd the city moving a worker from the forest to the newly completed mine east of Aloha, this means we're getting a settler in 5 turns. We should start considering what we need to build after the settler-if we meet no-one then i favour a granary, if we do meet someone then i believe a barracks is in order. We could also do with another worker-perhaps something to consider at pop 4?

Might consider not building any more workers( for a while) out of aloha depending on how fast the next city will grow. The granary will make us grow quickly adn we should consider a few standing troops..even warriors to finsih exploring and keep the barbs away.
