Welcome to the debate for Foriegn Affairs Minister! Underneath is a lengthy, identical message posted in all the debate threads: READ IT TWICE.

Spoiler :
I am perscribed by law to post the debate threads now. Unfortunately, my plan to have questions sent in by citizens so I could sort through them will not come to pass; instead, the law states that you may start asking them here. How the heck will I moderate the debates, you ask? Well, I can put up some guidlines. I can't enforce them myself, so Chieftess, eyeri, Rik Meleet, I hope I can have your co-operation, and hope you're on the forums frequently. What? It's the holidays? I had no idea.

The Rule:

- Bias, insulting, or irrelevant questions will be deleted. One and you get a warning. Two and you are not allowed to post any more.

This is how it will work. Post a question you have. Post one question at a time. Any running candidates can answer each question once. Answer one question at a time. If you don't have a question to ask, or a question to answer, do not post in the thread. This format is already set to turn into an uninformative, embarassing, messy free-for-all. Please be co-opertive. I will try my best to change things for future elections.

Note: Haha! I just noticed that in the code of laws, it states that "Any citizen may post a question for the candidates to answer"! So, technically, I guess I really can't moderate this at all. Have fun.

In the absense of any questions being asked so far, here is my platform for FA:

  • Poll diplo victory to determine if it is the current will of the people.
  • If diplo is not desired by a majority / largest plurality, then formulate a plan to not lose by diplo, and plans to support the desired victory condition.
  • If diplo is desired, then
    • With citizen input, analyze current projected votes. Classify each other civ as definitely for us, possible for us, definite abstain, possible for opponent, definite for opponent.
    • Work with other ministries to develop plans to either improve relations to shift likely abstains to votes for us (trade), or to eliminate those who are lost causes (defense).
  • Work with Culture to expedite building UN, which is needed whether we want to force a vote or avoid one.

3 Questions for FA Candidate

1. Are you willing to propose extermination of a civilization that rejects to vote in our favor, or are you playing feeble and politically correct with all hands bound ?
2. Are you willing to conspire in various ways against our chief rival China, or do you believe that we should treat China indiscriminately?
3. Are you on the ballot to win the game, or to appease a certain political wing?

Excellent questions, thanks for asking! :)

1. Yes, it may be necessary to eliminate one or more of the weaker civs which cannot be swayed towards voting for us.

2. Getting as many "neutral" states upset at our rival China as possible and happy with us is the road to victory. A little bit of intrigue along the way is to be expected.

3. Just win baby! I was T1 President to start this game, and now want to be FA to finish it.

*a new horse enters a race* Lady and Gentlemen, I will be running for this fine position. More to come. Oh and Daveshack........................ Your Next! *goldberg stare*

4. There was a large disconnect between the Trade and FA Ministry last term. What is your opinion on how to coordinate policy with other Ministries?
