Terraria

Is it just me, or did some of the procedural generation of terrain change a little? Seems like there are more hills and mountains, and mountain-dungeons. The deserts seem smaller now too.

Good, I hate deserts. Vultures suck.

I would literally rather have cancer than traverse another desert without a cobalt shield (before the patch).

Anyway, 1.1 seems cool insofar as it adds more content, but the gameplay is repetitive as ever and I think that with each major patch it will lose more of my attention; it's unfortunate the developers aren't accomodating to modding.

I have a godly boomerang. I think I'll visit Australia.

Deserts are pretty easy now. Cactus don't do any damage. Vultures are not very hard to deal with either.

That can either mean DLC or they're dicks.

Seeing the picture in the screenshot thread reminded me of something. I actually like how wood beams can go over walls, so it's now possible to hang torches from beams attached to the ceilings If I don't want to bother with chandeliers.

Well, Terraria is coming to XBL and PSN with new content, PC fans are outraged about that, but I'm holding on to a sliver of hope that the content will eventually find its way to PC/Steam. Honestly though, it's kind of a pathetic attempt to cash in on the console. And you could argue that this is just another way that they are mimicking Minecraft, but I don't really care 'bout that.

The Starbound dev seems to have made this post in the wake of Terraria's announcement, which makes me want to support him all the more.

I'm really skeptical how mining is going to handle using a game controller though. The inventory/crafting won't be too bad, but being able to mine tiles 3 or for spaces out seems like it could be a problem without the finer control the mouse offers.

Yeah it's an attempt to cash in, but so what, he earned the IP with his own sweat.
I'd be pleased if this translates into later DLC of value for the PC. Otherwise I don't care.

What does disturb me is that I've been trying to download some of the mod loaders to keep finding they are hosted on adware sites and my Norton positively identifies them as infected. It makes me think that a fat load of hackers are posing as honest modders over at the main forums, without supervision.

I'd love a rogue-like mod for Terraria.

Avast uber alles
