Test pitboss

The MTDG has started. This game is now at daveshack.dyndns.org:2058
The turn timer has been reset to 24 now that the Easter holiday is over. About 18 hours on the current clock.
oh thank you for that note... was getting frustrated with not being able to connect to the proper game!:p

Finished my turn with only 20 min to spare! :mischief:

And so Irgy founded Hinduism, and has the first holy city of the game. ;)

Now how on earth do you know it was me? There was, like, 14 civs whose scores increased that turn. Is it the amount of the increase? Would it have been less clear if I'd gone for the cheaper tech (meditation)? I guess you could tell from the timing of the announcement if you'd been logged in when I picked the religeon.

Or is it just that I picked Hindu and I'm playing India :) It was the default religeon for that tech as well though.

I'm bound to get warrior rushed now that everyone knows I've been mucking about claiming a religeon...

Everyone can see you adopted Hinduism, because the icon appears next to your name in-game now. It's one of the problems with being able to see everyone's score/name from the start I guess - arguably they really shouldn't have done that for multiplayer.

But anyway, the only way you could have kept it ambiguous would have been to hold off on switching to the religion for as long as possible. As it is, it's blatantly obvious that it was you who researched it, because you have that little symbol with the star next to your name for all to see. ;)

You did give us a piece of information we didn't know though - as far as I know, for those of us who don't have Mysticism, we couldn't have easily worked out that you researched Polytheism and not Meditation, because Choose Religions is on. So unless that was a decoy, thanks for the info. ;)

Ahh right ok everyone can see that. No point holding off though really, people will find out soon enough. I'm sure my friendly neighbour would have figured it out even if I didn't convert.

In a game where I posted my start I'm not too worried that people who can't research either tech know which of the two I have really, but I respect the analysis nonetheless.

Here's to keeping my holy city to myself for as long as possible!

Parkin, we can also look at the research choices for the "first to discover founds a religion"... that little description disappears for the religions (and "great person" techs) when they are poppe. Also, there is a tiny religion sub-icon on the tech tree until they are founded. Even with choose religions enabled, we can see that change and know which tech has already been used. the tiny sub-icon in the tech tree.

Lost a Quecha to a lion when he had 90% odds of survival...

My Scout faces yet another lion this turn as well.

I thought those only disappeared in the selection at the top of the screen (and the box it gives you when you finish a tech and haven't queued a new one) though (hence can only see it if you can research it)? The tech tree screen seems to have those icons and mentions of one-off benefits whether they're still active or not as far as I remember. Is there somewhere else you can look and see it instead?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the case. That's why I said only the people with Mysticism could work out which tech it was, in the absence of any other knowledge.

By the way, Civstats is down at the moment, but the game is still up.

After a long walk 3 warriors conquered the peak of the closest mountain to see the glorious lands they march in. But after the climb to the top they see something unexpected and unwanted. They pause for prayer about the evil about to set upon them...

You've still got 50-50 at least there champinoman : )

The new faith of Hinduism has inspired our warrior to great feats, defeating a vicious desert bear and coming out completely unscathed. I hope Indra's guidance will continue to be with them.

I actually thought the bear must have walked away, until I noticed they had 2/2 experience, then checked the message log. Why can't I give them a promotion straight away though? Must be a simultaneous turns thing, good to have this warm up game I'm learning lots of things.

Yeah, you can't promote for a turn... a weird feature of simultaneous turns.

Beavers and wolves and bears, oh my!

...yeah...he's doomed.

Those beavers have a crazy look in their eyes, i'd stay clear of them, the bears look friendly thou

Good news for the warriors. They have defeated their first foe. However will now be set on sentry duty for half a dozen turns to rest their feet.

He lives! Hooray! When I logged in I couldn't believe that he had beaten both, much less survived with 1.5 strength left.
