I loved the Warlords expansion, the Great General and the Great Wall additions were.. well.. great.. The new civs, leaders, and units were all got-ta-haves that were lacking to begin with and pretty much all the scenarios were decent, but one stuck out above the rest and that was the Barbarian scenario.
From the first minute I played it I was hooked. Pillaging mighty Romes villages and then jumping on my boat and retreating to sea.. It was awesome. I played it for several hours in single player before I excitedly called a buddy over to give it a go in multiplayer over my recently set up LAN.
I'm sure many of you know where this story ends just by the mention of the word multiplayer, but those that haven't suffered this heartache I will simply say that the Barbarian scenario, like all but maybe 1 scenario in Warlords, is NOT multiplayer.
This was a big disapointment to me and I'm sure many others as the prospect of taking a snotty civilized AI down a peg or two is really appealling.

For those that feel the same way I say

FRET NO MORE!!

I have spent several days this past week completely rewriting the Barbarian Mod that came with Warlords!

I've added quite a bit of new functionality to the Mod.

* Barbarians can now have a limited number of Cities.
Going above the allowed city limit will take away your barbarian camp, put you at war with all the barbarians, and put you at peace with all the civilizations. Conversely, falling back below the limit will return your camp, put you at peace with all the barbarians, and put you at war with all the civilizations.

* The type of units you can purchase from your camp is controled by the bonus, feature, and terrain of the tile your camp is on.

* Barbarian players get gold for killing units.

* Barbarian players can get gold each turn by putting worker units on gold, silver, or gem bonuses that are outside there borders.

These are just some of the basic functions that I have working already in the alpha version. I am just finishing up some popup and screen fine tuning and I'll have a beta ready for testing.

That is where YOU come in!

I need a few people to test out the mod for me. Some multiplayer testers would be cool, but is not that neccessary as I'm pretty sure I have most of the OOS errors taken care of already.

If anyone is interested just post in this thread or pm me. I'll get back to any volenters sometime this this week or next with a link to the beta version. :)

This sounds very good. I particularly like how you arranged it so that barbs which take many cities become "civilized" themselves, thus putting them at war with all other barbs. Very realistic. :D
