TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

i can wait, because i don't have conquest yet, and i have yet to finish my first game on the PTW map.

 That's funny, I've played several but never finished any. I still have my first game saved! Scandanavia was a challenge.

my brother had gone from china to germany to mongolia and he has never finished any of them either.

i am close to finishing mine, i just need to annialate the aztecs, iroquois and the incans

faster? huh? that's strange, since it has more details, like more civelopedia entries, shoulden't it take longer to load? on mine it takes about 3 minutes to load my saved game.

I'm running a really slow machine, so it takes ages for me in between turns.... seriously ages. To the point where it's almost no longer fun... almost ;)

But anyway, TET said that 2.0 is actually faster, even tho its a bigger map with much more info on it... crazy, huh?

after you kill enough civs then the speed gets decent. it is still slow though. (each turn takes 20 minutes to play)

Only 20 minutes? I have my first game running at 30 minutes a turn. I control half the world and have had a few wars with China and India. I believe there are still 20 civs left on my map. :hmm: I just worked out between turns before, but my own mod has kept me from continuing to finish the game. I tried a few others, but my first has always drawn me back.

I think on my last turn I just airlifted about 70 geurilla's and dropped about 40 paratroopers in the Aztec area. The Iroquois never developed in that game and they only have 3 cities. I have completely ignored them for now. The Aztecs and Incas on the other hand have grown very well. I believe I have about 22 transports off shore full of armies of modern armor and marines ready to land in Panama. I think I will, have to finish this game soon now. Talking about it has drawn back again. Of course in my spare time that is.

Well the problem with killing off other civs is that they're all so damn big. ;)

Actually I could live with the long turns, since I do homework and things in between each turn, watch an episode of the Simpsons, grocery shopping, go to class, you know. ;) What kills me is the military alliances and the popups related to them.

I dread getting embassies from other civs because I know it means I will soon be recieving all of their military actions every turn. Once you get enough embassies, you have to babysit the computer to make sure the turns continue, otherwise you'll go through 5 minutes of a turn and it'll just halt until you press the OK button. *Sigh* If only they could give you a single announcement in the end that sums up all the turn's activity.

Te, How did you get the beta-test version of conquest anyway? I though Firaxis will take those away.

Anyway, the only way I see is to try to convert the game to conquest 1.15b(the latest version?) and see if the same problems persist. Maybe you should try the unpacth verssion of conquest too, because it will be the closest thing to the beta-test version. Finally I think you should tell one of the mayor problems you have in different forums, see if anyone can help you figure them out.

The only thing left I have to say is don't give up, we are here for you.

Well no, that is unrealistic. Diplomacy is a key part of the game, and has been a key part of history. Embassies need to remain earlier in the game. There's really nothing that Tet can do in that case... I just wish that they'd put out a patch that gives the option to turn those messages off...

not only would a selection to turn those messages off be nice, but a little screen at the bottom that we could scroll up and down to see all the messages during a turn AT THE END OF THE TURN would be really REALLY nice! Didn't Alpha Centauri have something like that?

if you mean with no cities, then yes. the only starting possitions map is for you. just donwload the latest version. the open PWT and then the map.

i always play the clean version because my computer will crash because of an overload of data if i play on a one with cities

I've installed test of time and when I try to play it loads up to the point where I can see my starting position, then I get the error message " Cannot find file civ/ptw/art trex" or another file. (It's been a different file each time). I have civ III 1.29 and conquest 1.15 installed and I'm on Win 98. Any ideas?
Thanks for you help.
