TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

As everyone else does, I love the Mod and am looking forward to 2.0... but how will the release of the 1.21f PtW patch affect this, if at all?

I see that the TETurkhan mod contains Veera Anlai's Queen Liliuokalani leaderhead. Someone has recently been looking for this and Veera's old website seems to have disappeared. Do you have the original ZIP for this head? I'd like to repost it at CFC, but, I'd much prefer to just use the original package rather than creating a new zipfile and losing the original documentation and such. Thanks for any help.

teturkhan why did you make it were the Rifleman did not upgrade to the Infantry, just woudering.:)

I just installed the patches to try and combat some slow loading and now I am having some different problems.

I installed the 1.66 version of Mod (http://www.civfanatics.net/~teturkh...1.66-update.exe) and then (http://www.civfanatics.net/~teturkh...0-BIXupdate.zip).

Now I am getting the following error on startup:
===
Load Error

ERROR READING FILE

Missing entry in Scenarios\..\Scenarios\TETurkhan\text\Pedialcons.txt: ANIMNAME_PRTO_Sunni

The game will now exit.
===

I should mention this only happens with a saved game I was playing prior to installing the patches. I am running 1.04f on PTW.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Duane

Hmm, be sure you installed the bix update in the right folder, ie the scenarios folder for PTW rather than civ3. Seems obvious but its easy to do.

Other than that, I'm at a loss. You may try uninstalling ptw. Then reinstall ptw, the tet update, then the bix update.

Good luck! Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Tet, have you thought about not making infantry upgrade to mech infantry? I think it sucks because when I upgrade, I can no longer build infantry, however mech infantry is wheeled vs. not wheeled.

Just a thought.

why. if you do that what is the piont of building infantry.;)

Because roads aren't always built through forests, mountains and hills. Its nice to have a good unit, like infantry, to claw through these zones. Since its replaced, I have to build guerillas which are weaker.

Am I out on a limb here?

I'm playing a game as the Tibetans and I have a few things to say:
First off I can build the Military acadamy and I haven't even been at war, let alone have 3 armies.

Second: I love the warrior monks' attack animation!

Third: Europe has been taken over by the Hungarians, followed by the Greeks. Perhaps you should check "Build defensive units often" box in the editor for all European civs.

Fourth: Rome survived for pretty long, then of course it collapsed in Middle Ages. My question is how did they manage to stay ahead in tech? They only had two cities (Rome and Veii) and always were first second or third civ to get techs.

China is the supersupersuperpower. So far, they've conquered: Mongolia, Cambodia, Korea, Turkistan, Celts, Spain, Egypt, Germany, AND a bit of France. They have SO MANY FREAKING UNITS. Sorry, I'll stop ranting now.

EDIT: Soryy, never mind, I didn't know 32 civs was the max.

War elephants: They're too cheap! Persia and India have tons of them and they've taken most of Israel's territory in the few turns that they were at war.

Persia has three cities in the Indian peninsula, and they were not by conquest either. It would be hard to fix I know but it's just weird.

Iroquios could use some more cities, they onblt have 2 in 1460 AD!

Teturkan, please don't take this as me not liking this mod or anything, I love it along with all the rest of the fans on this thread. This is just to help you, hopefully, make it better. I like my game though, because its not what I expected, with Hungary coming to power and taking alot of Europe and then Greece Emerging to take Rome!

BTW, how do you increase maz # of civs? It won't let me make the number higher than 31 and if I highlight it and change to 35, then it says "enter an integer between 1 and 31".

31 is the max possible. It's a limit of the game code.

I have an idea to reduce the power of china a little bit... You should reduce the number of cities before the corruption become terrific in the World Size menu... Powerful civs like china and india will be weaker, especially since their capital is not really in the middle of their empire...

Reduce the value of ''Huge'' map to do that

Fixing China at least is pretty easy, and I think Tet took care of it in version 2. What you guys are seeing in your games is what would have happened if the Chinese continuously had progressive leadership.

What happened in reality was that while once China was very powerful, the Ming dynasty closed itself down and basically said "NO" to technology, and became xenophobic. Then Europe had time to catch up.

So imagine in the middle of the game China suddenly switches its science development to zero and stops expanding, both economically and militarily, for about 500 years. (1368-1840's or so.) So that's like 50 turns.

This already is kinda reflected in the current version, as China has like no naval power to speak of. But I believe Tet put in some stuff to allow Europe to expand quicker and to slow down China and India for version 2.

Interesting thought about India... in almost every game I've played, India is reduced to almost nothing or totally destroyed (by mostly the Chinese, Tibetans, and [sometimes] Indonesians and others) before the A.D. years. I have not yet seen a powerful India develop. (Oddly enough, in one game Abyssinia took about half of India... in the next, Songhai did! And Persia took over Germany! ;)) Crazy AI... GREAT FUN!

Hey Tet, if you need any help with the new mod I can lend a hand. I don't have much modding skills, but I do have a lot of time to beta test (unemployed grad student).

I"ve generally seen tibet do well until the middle ages- industrial time.

That happens to coincide with the development of units able to kill those damn warrior monks. Its the Turks that get them everytime.
