HA! Too bad I'm from Arkansas, but then again, I wouldn't run for president :D
I've lived here for over 7 years and I do believe that Texans think they are a whole other country. They are different. So far I'm happy with what Bush has done. I was too young to know much about his father's presidency though.

Could you hook a Mig with those horns? Now that would be interesting...

That is jsut a matter of verb tense.

Well, yeah! But I'm talking about now, you know, since then?

Some of us a little older :D, and has a longer sense of history and community, dear heart. My handle is that of a Roman born over 2500 years ago. The Republic of Texas is not very relevant for me, however, my family did not get here until 1870.

I think you americans need a Canadian for president. Your government needs to mellow out a bit.

What are you talking about, Mellow out? Explain this to me because I take offense to that statement.

Well, to start with, I was making a joke.

I was playing on the false stereotype that Canadians (see, Canadians might be offended too) are mellow. We are not. It just looks that way because our government is so slow that nothing ever gets done (see, I made another joke).

As for the american government needing to mellow out, I was not referring to the war on terrorism. I was referring to the fact that the USA tends to be more aggressive than I like. For example: the softwood lumber dispute with Canada; the steel tariff imposed on the Europeans; the current american government stance on the environment; etc...

I apologize if you found my comment unfunny.

;) Well okay, I see. I ASSumed you were talking about the war. IMO, I think we as Americans are softies...we should have done something about this terrorism earlier (CLINTON)...BUT, this may be because of the way I play CIVIII :D :egypt:

Canadians are too wussy to effectively manage a superpower. I'd trust Texans first :D

Bush Sr. spent most of his life in the northeast. Bush Jr. has spent significant time outside Texas too.
He spent a good chunk of his National Guard duty in the South (what he was guarding isn't clear). And the DUI he admitted to was in the Northeast, where he frequented his family vacation homes. So he's been around.
Oh well, at least he isn't Canadian.

8 years of stonewalling an administration its amazing he got that much done.

None of us saw terrorism as a greater threat than Clinton. He spoke about the need to be aware, to be careful, and to properly fund anti-terrorism hundreads and hundreads of times. There was not popular support for it then.

I'd rather have someone who can speak proper English.

Wait, you say speaking proper English is not necessary for being president?
Yay, that's great, I always wanted to be President of the U.S.!

And my pronounciation is better than Kissinger's!!! :p

One of Clinton's own snenior staff member (from the first term) who repeatedly raised the suject of counter terrorisim with him, said in an interwiew about 2 months ago that Clinton was totaly uninterested in doing anything about it beyond than PR and lip service, depiste many exhortation from various staff. This may have chnage during his 2nd term.

First term? Did he get fired and realized (like so many other people) that bashing Clinton = lots and lots of money?
Notice he never mentioned it in an interview from 1996 - August of 2001.
And the evidence speaks for itself. I was actually trying to find the article where Clinton introduced and anti-terrorism bill to Congress and Trent Lott said they'd get to it if they had time, and it was held up in Committee through the entire legislative session.

The point I was trying to make was that prior to 9/11, NOBODY was serious about terrorism.
