Text Key Error Resolution Project

Very helpful indeed, XML editing will give me a headache but quite doable to fix. Many thanks to all of you, with all the help here it will be a pleasure to assist. :)

In my estimation without having gone into the later stages of the game, Industrial and beyond, I think 55-65% of all technologies have incomplete SIDT (Sid Tips), I mean most repeat the tech name as the tip.

To make the mod the best it can be someone has to take on this tedious process. I might as well make an attempt and support you guys more then I currently am. ;)

Okay, I had hoped that SIDT would be in a text file :lol:
 
Sid's Tips = Strategy text.

These need to be short. We had a lot that were just copies of the pedia which meant that hover over texts were going over the top and bottom of the screen displaying the strategy text but nothing useful like the name of what you were hovering over or its effects.

While having fewer text files has some slight performance implications in loading having your new strategy texts all in one file will make it easier for you and later the translators to work on.
 
Yes Dancing, I dislike how a few techs have so much information you can't tell what it leads to or anything.

I thought none of the SIDT should be more then like 140-160 characters max.

I don't know where the Sid Text is located yet, I have been checking out the new changes and looking through things.

I'd like to tackle fixing some typos in the tip text on game load screen. I'm not a grammar Nazi but some are really bad. :D

(I will be aggressive after the holidays fixing the Mod text, I'm a bit side tracked at the moment.)

Im pretty sure that Sid Tips are just Tech Strategy text, which is located in Assets\XML\Text\Tech_CIV4GameText.xml
 
That Narrows it down it a lot Sparth thank you! :D All I need to do now is figure out which line is the SID TIP to edit. Is the SID TIP located in a <TEXT> or <TAG>?

Unless I'm missing some reference I can find myself. Can someone post me the code showing correct strategy text for a tech? I can see where it is exactly and get on with some work. Thanks. :)
 
The call for the tip would be made by the tech info. So if you find the tech first in the techinfos.xml you can find exactly what the text key tag is you're looking for.
 
Okay I will peek at that code, I wasn't sure which <TEXT> space to edit</TEXT>. Easy to find the tags. Thanks
 
Ouch, thanks Morlark! That is a blatant one no doubt! Exactly the type of text typos and long texts, descriptions, etc I plan to reduce, change or add throughout the Mod.

I will begin after new year. I found the locations of more then I first thought were there. :lol:
