IBT lose a LB and a cannon. see about 300 persian troops running around.

1- Agade MDI > knight,
Heidelburg - 2 e knights kill 2 LBs. no leader. kill 2 muskets, a spear and a LB. lose a LB. its ours!
we got 3 more slaves. also there are 8 resistors.
workers chop and road.

IBT ottomans declare on the koreeans.
a knight retreats to a german LB.

2- WDC MDI > knight, NYC MDI > musket, Phili musket > musket, Isin caravel > bank,
move troops. those persians are really annoying, making me move twice as far. going to use ferries now.

3- Ur musket > musket, Baltimore worker > worker,
decide to play devils advocate for a while. try a careful steal from Korea. (1515g) and i make it :dance:
as the ottomans dont have Military tradition yet, ill take this.
go to the ottomans and take Economics for Mil Trad and 325g.

Knossos kill 3 hoplites with our armies. lost some hp, but will have it next turn.

moving some MDIs down to persia-side to replace some knight.

IBT - ottomans start Bach's and we want the military academy.

4- build San Diego close to the german area > rax (for upgrades and future healing)
Knossos we lose a knight, but destroy the greeks.
set to temple.
feel lucky with JXL and jeb's plumes so i go for Bremen on the same turn. lose some hp but take it loseless.
upgrade 5 knight to cavs for 150g.

5- NYC musket > cav, Agade cav > military academy, Boston musket > bank, Detroit cav > Cav,
upgrade some more knights.

IBT - persia claims Hamburg, breaching the choke.

6- WDC cav > cav, Atlanta cav > bank, Chcago cav > bank, Zohak market > court,
some reinforcements arrive.
Nurenberg (the last pre-choke city still holds after losing 2 muskets.

7- Nurenberg falls are retreating a knight.
moves towards choke.
attempt to safely steal phisics from korea (1587g... inflation within the secret service too?) and we now know physics too.

IBT - persian take Konigsberg. i dont think we will be able to grab any more german towns from that area.
we have troops arriving on the scene though.

8- Phili musket > bank,
setting up the "final solution" to the german problem.

9- NYC cav >START ON SMITHS in 30. noone is building it as of now, Arrakis bank > cannon, Detroit cav > bank,
some more upgrades.

IBT - atlast i see some persians lose.

10- Ur musket > bank, WDC cav > pentagon, Sumer bank > cannon, Ghulman bank > caravel,

the Pile o' Doom is almost ready.
it consists of 9 cavs, 2 cannon, 3 MDIs, 4 knights and an Army. another army with 5 cavs and 2 muskets should arrive within 1-2 turns.
sci - we can carefully steal from Korea ToG. (1587g) or go on a limb. steal Magnetism from Babylon or Persia and sell to Korea for Tog, going into the industrial era.

The MA and Pentagon are small wonders so they are allowed but I don't believe Smith's is allowed in this game. I believe it is a great wonder and we are using the variant of not building wonders.
 
Pentagon and Academy are OK, but I would skip the Academy until we have factories up and running. Armies just take too many turns to build and we don't need the pre-build.

I think Babylone would make a nice (new) Target, RoP been cancelled. They Have smits in Nineveh.
Nineveh holds one source of Guano, Sippar holds another. But on the diplomacy they are not showing as having extra ....

With Nationalism out there spending cash for tech with the continental neighbors is gong to make our conquest of their territory more difficult, so buy from the other continent if you can and steal locally.

Be careful from whom you buy and where you spend luxuries and gpt. Steal monopolies and trade them out, buy the widely known for cash only if you can. I think we want to stunt the economies of Persia and Babylon and build the economies of Korea and Ottoman.

Will have to pay a lot for Nationalism but it is the path to the eventual acquisition of Espionage and Communism.

As soon as Steam Power is known to both Persia and Babylon look for the resource wars to begin. Anyone care to bet we won't hold coal?

Went back through tech cost calcualtions and realized I was guilty of passing on bad information. The number of remaining nations on the map affects the beaker cost only after one nation holds the knowledge. It is roughly 1% discount. Obviously the effect is miniscule in the AA, but grows in importacne in the IA and beyond.
 
Grow the economy so we can continue to defeat our enemies and acquire resources and luxuries. :groucho:
 
If they are off the continent, can we load enough boats to finish them this round?

We are going to need garrisons in the old German towns to cover the conversion risk to Persia anyway, so maybe it is best to just end it. Depends on the timing, if we need to reorganize the troops for a sea borne invasion might as well do it in peace time.
 
Okay I believe I got the above advice totally screwed up with my deals during the pre-turn. So to check with everyone I'll post them here. I'll continue playing shortly.

Continuation from above:

Germany: We give peace; we get New Berlin, Dortmund, and 1 gold

Six cities were about to riot so I upped the lux to 10%.

Truthfully not a lot happened. We did finish both the Pentagon and the Military Academy. Nearly every city in our empire is connected by rails now except Isin, the southwest, the west, and possibly a few others.

One thing of major note is there are only two sources of coal on our continent and we control both of them. Nearly Babylon nor Persia have access. Unless my eyes deceive me neither the Ottomans nor the Koreans have coal either. There is coal on that continent (only one source) but it lies outside Korea’s boundaries.

BTW, I left Bede with 5,693 gold so enjoy yourself. Also I tried again to steal Nationalism from Persia and once again it failed. At that time Korea was willing to sell it for 4200+ gold but I could attempt a safe steal for around 2k. Oh well.

A settler with an army to the coal might be useful. It will involve us in war with the other continent, though.

The only thing I see wrong in the trading round was the purchase of the optional techs as I don't think we can use them for trade bait.

Nice build up the economy. Time to set up for Babylon, I think.
