Emperor game with Cassiel where at turn 300 and the AC is already at 84! AC 40 came pretty fast so crippled me fairly hard. I didn't contribute to the AC at all. I've never played a game where the AC got out of hand so fast, so I'm not sure what the best course of action would be. Hell terrain is already spreading to my lands from across the sea. I don't have a functional navy yet, so I doubt I can go destroy Hyborem and Perpentach before AC hits 100. Should I even bother fighting the terrain with sanctify? Or just accept hell terrain and adjust?

Is the AC supposed to be able to go up that fast? Seems pretty harsh. It's not giving me any chances to do anything about it :(

my guess is it's that wonder that adds the "+1 to the armageddon counter" to every unit built (forgot it's name atm). Once you've got the mana, sanctifying only takes 1-2 adepts to keep your land clean, so should be worth it.

lol I wish I would ave a game like that, the AC never seems to go up much at all unless I physically do it. Hyborem never even comes most games because no one ever converts to AV to summon him, generally all the evil civs convert to Rok. I do generally play on noble though, which migt infleunce it.

Play at diety, the avatar of wrath by turn 200 is pretty common. If you really want your ass kicked, do a sparsely populated raging barbs game with a couple barbarian sides and labrascum on. If you make it to turn 200 without being dead or the last civilization standing, it's a miracle.

Try playing as the Sheaim -- the goal becomes to drive the AC to 100 fast, since you're the one who'll ride it out the best -- particularly since you typically get your hero after the Avatar of Wrath has made his appearance.

Absolutely!

In raging barb games with a lot of open spaces for barb cities and the barbs to spawn and roam, the AC will skyrocket as AI civs are mowed down as well as barb cities.

The OP didn't say what game speed he was using. In Marathon games I find the AC moves to fast for the player and AI to keep up. Techs, expanding is much slower in those games, yet the AC charges ahead. Before you know it, you have powerful Horsemen of the Apocalypse appearing and you have Hunters and Axemen to defend. :(

Once that counter gets rolling in your game, you just go along with it as best you can.

I still think there is a bias in the game for moving the counter forward, but that appears to be the goal - bring on Armageddon!

Take into account that there are bugs considering lowering the AC so even razing evil cities[with AV] will increase the AC.

Wait 5 more days for Shadow. It should be resolved there.

Games with raging barbs and Labscurum on large maps and above are impossible even on monarch. The four horsemen will chew you up before you get longbovmen.

I just kinda ignore the AC, to be honest. It hurts you, sure, and it hurts everyone else as well. Just deal with it with lots of adapts, or let your lands turn into hellscapes and run sacrifice the weak to counter the food loss, whatever. You won't be pwned anymore than everyone else.

Well ok, if the AC counter hits 90, you only got axeman, and the Avatar of Wrath shows up like right next to your capital, then yeah, you're in trouble. Please post screenshot of that happening though.

I'll definately try this in my next game. Can't right now because of RL stuff but should be able to next week. What civ should I play? I want to see the AC rise without my help so... a good civ?

Luchuirp, if you want to get the Armageddon but survive it while being good.
