The AI is a terrible ally.

so i played a multiplayer game just now, and it was 2v2v2. early on my teammate left and i was coup;led with egypt's AI. it was me and egypt on a small continent.

im not sure how incompetent a programmer one needs to be to make those AI allies so bad, but heres what raamses did:

first of all, he kept couping all my city state allies, and rigging elections, making it hard to keep CS friends.

then, he started sending great prophets. when i asked him to stop he agreed, and then DID IT ANYWAY. keep in mind, this is an ally from before the game starts, i can not declare war on him. i was generating roughly 70 faith per turn and was planning on turning that into great scientists later, but he forced me to buy inquisitors and prophets all game long, and use them to fend off his religion.

lastly, i rushed radio with oxford to get the first ideaology, i wanted order. i have always been the first to ideaologies in multiplayer, and was surprised to see that, someone took order inbetween turns! WTH? did i lose the ideaology race?

two seconds later i realized that since im sharing tech with my ally, he got to modern together with me, and because of some programming oversight he got to choose his ideaology before me. so i only had 1 free tenent. i ragequitted after that, even though i was top in all demographics and 400 points above the 2nd place player (who still had his human teammate in the game). i was just not having fun, despite winning.

never keep playing if you have an AI ally. never.

At least you understand why I love world domination.

I was doing a 2v2v2 with my friend (each of us had an AI teammate) and my AI was immediately destroyed by the AI team. The worst bit is they pretty much had a settler ON their capital the entire game! I still won through a science victory, though.

Apparently you have a solid game experience! ;)

I've never played a team game, but when ever me and the AI gang up on another foe in a normal game, they suck really badly. Often what happens is I'm mildy annoyed at the 3rd party, then the AI asks me if we should start a join war, which I agree to. When the time comes to attack, I lead a massive offensive force, and then noticed that my friend sends NO UNITS AT ALL. This isn't a one off, as I've had this happen about 7 times.

And then, it gets better: after I've wiped out "our" foe, or captured enough cities, my "friend" will then denounce me for being a warmongering menace! Dudeeeee, you asked me into this, so don't go slinging shame at me. I think it might be that they wanted some of the 3rd party's cities, but they kinda just sit on the sidelines, eating our victory buffet, and then get all angry and confused when they don't get a reward for it.

Having played a bit 2vs2Aivs2AI with a friend, I have the distinct impression that the AI in multi player games is considerably worse then that in single player(and that's saying something...). They just seem to play really passive.

Never played multi: do you chose the lvl of the AI? I guess so, but want to be sure.

Anw this Egypt game was quite funny :D
Did you forget the part where he built all the wonders that you wanted?

Last team game I played with AI he made peace with my fiercest rivals THREE TIMES a turn before I captured their capitals....

It's not an oversight, he goes before you

I remembered playing a team game as Poland on Narodowe Święto Niepodległości against you know who. Then England declared war on Rome and I lost all my GPT. Plus, Rome took out London and there was nothing I could do about it.
