Hello,
already 4 weeks ago I decided to rework the TAM-mod. I really like the enviroment. The style, the historical flair.
I really disliked the inbalancies. When I started the mod the Etruscans was flooding all Italy, Rome was a poor developing country and the Dacians was settling Macedonia
I wanted a Mediterran World that is (without players interference) developing like in historical times. Egypt should be the cultural center, Baylon is the early riser and later captured by Assyria and Persia, Greeks and Phoenicians are settling the Islands and Rome becomes a devastating late game power.
After a lot of changing the starting circumstances, the Civilization Properties and more I decided to completely rework the mod. Especially because I always had to break the game because of too long waiting times between the turns.
I declined the number of Civs to 20. 16 real civs (Rome, Egypt, Babylon, Carthage, Assyria, Germanic, Gallia, Media, Persia, Phoenicia, Greeks, Macedonia, Lydia, Iberia, Hittites and Scythia) and 4 minor civs(Troy, Israel, Etruria and Sea Peoples) that are not allowed to build Settlers and therefore have only their starting settlers.
The minor civs are balancing the development of the world. They all start with their Civ-abilities AND expansionist (as 3rd ability). They also have the opportunity to trade contacts and maps from the beginning (by the use of their Civ-specific advances)
I changed the resources and now I change the units (also because I want to add all this new great units availabe on civ-fanatics). The TAM Unit-Charts are also inbalanced (for my intention of historical simulation). Composite Bowman are way too strong (Babylon is generally flooding the whole mid-east) and in general defensive units are far worse than their offensive counterparts.
But now I reach the point to need support. The work becomes too much for one person.
I would like to know wether the old TAM - team is still connected and wether I can get support (especially in GFX-design, I just learned to use Adobe Photoshop, but I need some deeper knowlegde)
yours
Ruediger
