[Prince Donovan Zoi stands up, glass in hand]
Wow, leave it to the great Prince to throw in a few surprises. I must admit that Lord Shaitan's generosity has rendered me practically speechless.
The 10-12 people that read the discussion threads break into laughter
Anyways, fill 'em up....I have a few toasts myself.
To Cyc - a fine display once again! As a great poet will one day say, you have taken a sad song and made it better. You and your staff(and Sara, of course) have made us all feel at ease on what could have been a disaster if left in lesser hands. I am sure that your new status as my neighbor will only help expand our enduring friendship.
An eruption of applause begins and continues for 3-4 minutes
To Padma - your touching gift today symbolizes the close relationship that Lancre and Vanir have developed over the years. I hope that Klein Vanir can one day enjoy that same bond. Be assured that my princedom holds dear the same guiding principles as those of the late Prince Shaitan. Let us start today.
More applause as the two princes raise their glasses to each other
To Grandmaster - congratulations on the discovery of your true lineage and elevation in status. I have always thought you worthy of Princehood and now I know why. May our two Vanirian houses work side by side to keep your father's legacy alive.
another eruption of applause that resounds for several minutes
To Strider - No!
Laughter fills the hall. Once it subsides, Donovan continues
Seriously, though.....let's celebrate Shaitan's life tonight and make deals tomorrow. I probably will not make any moves until the Land Office re-opens anyway.
Near the back of the crowd, Cyc winks at Sara who starts playing the "time's up" music. Behind Donovan, Brother Adam playfully trys to hook Donovan away with his shepherd's staff.
Oh, no.....you aren't gonna....okay LAST ONE! To Shaitan.
The antics give way to reverent silence
What can I say that hasn't already been said tonight? Shaitan truly cared for and cultivated those that served him. Some of his knights have gone on to become Science Leader, Judge Advocate or very vocal Military Deputy. It was Shaitan's noble presence that taught us all how to stand on our own; how to fight for what we believed in. It is my sorrow that we now have to go out and prove that without him.
Donovan looks up to, or maybe through the ceiling, raises his glass and speaks softly
We will not let you down, m'Lord.
