The best and worst news sources?

Sometimes it seems "The Onion" is closer to the truth than others.

But if you're depending on The Onion for your news...well...

It's a bit of a biased list, actually. It was clearly written up by a leftist.

However, I'm sure you'll ALL agree with me here that FOX News, however bad of a source it is, still has MTV beat flat out... and The Onion... I'm a bit shocked at their blind BBC obedience. BBC is OK for a European perspective, but they have their own bias.

However, The Manchester Guardian receiving anything close to a five was a complete shock. It should be right down there with FOX News. They're both biased, and the Guardian is basically a big editorial page.

Interesting that of the "worst" sources listed 14 were either considered "conservative or leans right", 3 were felt to have no bias and only 3 were felt to "lean left".
On the "best" list it was somewhat different with 3 that "lean right", 7 that "lean left" and 10 without bias.
There you have it! The more conservative a news source is the less credible, accurate and balanced it is. Good to know. NPR must be off the scale good.

Good rule of thumb: The closer to the political center of the country your media outlet of choice is, the more likely it is to be [uh oh, lawsuit alert] fair and balanced. Nobody pays moderates millions of dollars to push their political agendas. Mike Moore and Rush Limbaugh take note.

The Guardian is about as credible as FOX news.

Like some of you, I find that listening to both ends gives me a nice view of the truth, or an approximation of it. I listen to NPR in the car, C-span over the web at work when I can, read a wide variety of web based news and flip between CNN, MSNBC and Fox for TV based news. There is so much out there and I have soo little time to check it out.

Le Monde? What is it doing up there?

Haaretz tops all the sources I know.

Here's a very biased, right winged News source that might be considered one of the worst. It's called VNN. There motto is, "No Jews. Just Right."

That's not a news source, that's a racial spamfest!
From their forum:

A Follow up to my last post:
There are only a FEW good Kikes.
Adam Sandler:Funny man. We should spare him.
Jerry Seinfeld:Also a funny man. Spare his ass too.
The Beastie Boys: They're decent rock group.

I told you. There forum is pathetic... it'll actually make you laugh a lot (that is, if you don't take the stuff seriously). They have very low forum views and only have about 10 posters with multiple names.

Rates the credibility and quality of content and indicates the political bias of the publication/broadcast.

My vote goes for Google News. Yeah they don't do any reporting of their own, but jeez they're handy.

here's my list of the worste news and tabloid sources combined in one list(starting with most worst going up to least worst):

1)FOX NEWS
2)KSTE 650am in San Francisco(they have Michael "Savage" Wiener as well as Dr. Laura)
3)Those newspapers sold by hobo's
4)National Enquirer
5)USA Today
6)MSNBC

I see you forgot to include all the BS Green Party papers that I'm sure you read daily.

Le Monde?! Wall Street Journal?!

Do these people actually read the sources before they rate them?

The Houston Press??? :rotfl:

Whatever.

I like Drudge (among others). His site only provides links, but you get a pretty broad spectrum of daily news from around the world.

Do you honestly beleive that Fox News is worse than a supermarket tabloid?

 I can see accusing it of bias in some cases, but people have really gotten out of control.

Have you even watched it? I have, and for the most part it is fine but they can make some biased statements from time to time, but it surely isn't as bad as the Enquirer. If I remember right, theyr'e the one who invented Batboy, right?
