The Best Random Event You've gotten

I have tried it several times and 1-2 = 1

Hmm. We are starting to wander far offtopic but in ffh if you have the extra events options selected(at least in some old patches), every civ would get that event without fail(the health one), and if you got it in the first x turns of the game you were uber lucky. Why would you want to eat down a city past size 1 though? That doesn't give xp. Funny that it gave negative size, though probably a bug that should be reported. About ffh events, the best one got to be the one that gives a unit the hero promotion(one free xp per turn). This can often happen to a scout and that can eventually be upgraded to a druid for quite a killer unit.

I got the legendary swordsmen event yesterday. I could choose between giving all my Praetorians City Raider 1 or Drill 1 haha - CR2 Praets right out of the door in every city, where do I sign up for that?!

Whenever I get these promotion events I always find them useless becuase I rarely have the units, I even once recieved the axe/shock event before I had access to any copper or iron.

Guess I'm just unlucky :(

It does apply to untis you build post-event though...

I gotta agree with Cabor, that -25% inflation late in the game is one of the best.

Best in a military setting was when I played as Gandhi and got the shield promotion which allowed me to do an early rush attack against Mansa Musa. I let Boudica and Ghengis fight amongst themselves until I had a superior army and slapped both arround into submission. Something about these Indian leaders that brings out the war-monger in me!!

I got the -25% inflation one once which won me the game. I was in a tight late-game race for the spaceship with Hannibal. Our empires were both huge (we had conquered or vassalized many civs between us) and all that extra money per turn let me use US to buy my way to the moon.

actually that is give all your swords CR1 or give all Melee Drill 1. If you choose the drill 1 your future macemen, pikemen etc will get it too.

Best Rnd events: not just event results but also the timing

1. +2 :health: to all cities

2. "old fool teaching" - Pay to get a free Academy in Capital.

3. Free shock/cover to melee right before an Axe rush

4. 25% inflation reduction mid-late game.

Some times it is good to keep a small amt of cash at hand to pay for nice random events.

Worst randam events:

1. I had a commerce city where I cottaged heavily along a flood plain river by a peak. I was struggling to keep up with the techs with the AIs and the peak (volcano) erupted and wiped out my 4 grown villages/towns!! 'WHAT THE ____"

2. Free drill I (Master Bowman) to a protective civ (is that possible)

I've actually gotten free city raider 1 for all swordsmen. And guess what? I was playing ROME!

I just had an event that for TEN gold

TEN GOLD

TEN GOLD

in the STONE AGE

Revealed ALL the oil in the world to me.

:O :O :O:O :O :O:O :O :O:O :O :O:O :O :O It helped my plots and I was able to factor in such a forward resource way in the stone ages

How'd that work? You can't rush buy spaceship parts.

But you can rush observatories and labs to boost your research in the last stretch, same as factories and coal plants to boost production.

Also that allows him to build units in cities that where not production heavy for the sakes of protection, while he used his production heavy cities for the spaceship parts.

Oh yeah, I usually play OCC so I didn't think about it that way :D

I keep getting the one where my company invents a game called "CiviliZation", which either makes everyone happy, or gives you lots of money.

I got the "golden age of musketeers"-quest as Suleyman. That was very fortunate, since I already intended to take advantage of the Janissaries. To top that, the quest had a special reward for owning the Taj Mahal, which I was just building. Being curious, I delayed the last Janissaries one or two turns and when I finished the quest, now having the Taj Mahal, I could choose another golden age!
On top of it I had the Mausoleum of Maussollos. That made 24 turns of golden age in a row! The quest couldn't have come at a better time :D

Ditto.

I had already been planning a GA+Taj Mahal 36-turn long Golden Age to fund a war against the score leader and his two Vassals when I got that quest.

Needless to say, I was thoroughly thrilled when I learned my Golden Age was being turned into a 54-turn "Platinum Age".

Because of the boosted :gp: production during it, I also popped another GA and GS which were burned to increase my Golden Age to 72 turns!

A full 10% of that game was a solid Golden Age! :king:
