The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

I think beard clipping could be prevented by texturing beard on his cheeks.

Yeah, that is probably what I am going to do. The beard itself was shaped strangely because its really the jaw from Hammurabi. So it was hard to get it flat against the surface of the head I used. So basically I am going to just add the beard's texture to the face and hope that takes care of it.

Alright, I fixed the model up. I even changed the background (it looks much better now). When changing the animations though do I have to exchange everything (including the BG) or can I just move over certain animations?

How does this work? I haven't once changed animations on any of my LHs.

Take Monty's animations, and rename them to whatever the name of stalin's animations are. It's very simple.

Yeah, thanks for answering me question.

Okay again; do I have to move ALL OF THE ANIMATIONS or can I just move CERTAIN ONES? (Can I leave the BG I have or do I have to move that too)

I think you can leave the bg on.

You can move certain ones, but it's recommended that you change them all, since a new animation might change the shape of the head.

Alright, I'm going to try to move Monty's over and see what happens.

EDIT: Hmm, monty's didn't seem to work out very well, his hands are unattached to the arms now for some reason. Moving on...

Alright, I got him to work right. I just forgot to use the right nif so there are some issues around the upper-lip/mustache area. I circled them, but I am well-aware of how to fix it (I already did before, I just forget to use the right blend for an edit) and it will be taken care of in the last edition. This is using Mehmed's animations and I added a new background too. I will have all of my new LHs up in the database in the next few days.

Anyway here is the final preview before the release of all of the new LHs.

Looking good. The only thing I'd note is that the hair and beard still don't quite match in color. I'd go with the beard color myself.

I think I'm actually going to go with the hair color, not because i disagree with your choice (the beard color might be better) but because the beard is Hammurabi's vanilla color.

On a personal note; when I grow my beard out its slightly redder than my hair, which is brown.

lucky you, mine is grayer

The LH looks good. I would recommend adjusting his position in nifskope. make him look farther back instead of being up in my kool-aid. but it does look fine as is. Also try blurring the BG a bit, thats what firaxis does.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm pretty sick today, I was going to try and get all of these guys finished and uploaded by the end of the night but I feel like crap so we'll see how far I get. If I have a few done I'll post those. I should also be able to tell you some animations you can change in Colonization (if there are any) because I am going to change Mongkut's animations.

Okay a quick update to the animations guide; Zara Yaqob's animations on Charles de Gaulle look like crap. I guess they work, but the guy looks all ******** and his eyes are messed up. I suggest you change this on the animation guide.

Why don't you use the same animations as Charles V?

Alright, I wound up using the vanilla Charles De Gaulle (Same as Charles V) animations. Its up in my mod's thread, you can check the preview there.

This post is for my own benefit, as I work on Mongkut I want to write down some colonization anims.

Tachnechobrus (Logan) does not work with:
Cunne_Shote (elongated neck, eyes not visible, shoulders "pointy", bottom of hands stretched)
VanDerDonk (turned to the side, elongated neck)
Jose San Martin (turned to the side, slightly elongated neck, eyes not visible)
John Adams (Turned to the side, as far as I can tell that's the only problem)
Cochise/Mangas Coloradas (Turend to the side, neck squished/no neck)
Arawak (Turned to the side, elongated neck)
Louis de Frontenac (turned to the side, squished neck)
Arawak (It "works," but it looks ridiculous, its actually pretty funny, when I release it I suggest you look at it, think the SNL weekend update with governor Paterson)
C4Col Washington ("laying" on its side, I'll try to avoid using vanilla leaders for now)
Champlain (Frightening)
Simon Bolivar (Turned to side, squished neck/no neck)
Stuyvesant (turned to the side, elongated neck)
Cunhambebe (short/squished/no neck, turned to the side)
Huayna Capac (just doesn't work)

out of curiosity does not work means what? extremely distorted? I wish when we did the guide we did screenshots. Because now that i know more about nifscope and know hot to cut parts. some animations are salvageable.

Hey Ekmek, I am editing that list just in case you want to keep up with it. Another question I have; I have noticed that the last three of these attempts have turned the character side-ways. Basically you see the profile of the model. Now there are two possible reasons for this; the first is that I might be screwing something up, the second is that all of these LHs have been "European" or non-native leaders. So that might be it, but I don't undwerstand why that would be. I'll try the Arawak next to see what happens.

I just wanted to post a little shot of what I am talking about when I say "to the side." I also drew a little image in yellow lines of about how high the head and neck stand when I say the neck is "elongated." I didn't show the shoulders, but basically they look really pointed and are above the torso a bit. I hope this helps you visualize what I am talking about, and if any of this is salvageable that would be very interesting and would definitely open up new possibilities in LH making.

This image is of the John Adeam's animations on my Mongkut model (which is based on Logan).

if you mess with rotation you could end the alfred hitchcock profile issue. the only reason i know this is because i screwed up a leaderhead once and it did that.

the elongated neck issue I also had with my curtin. I think it can be fixed by adjusting the torso/spine bones and moving a separeted body up in the blend. but it takes trial and error to get it right
