I don't know if many of you have watched the Eurovision song contest tonight, but a cavewoman representing Ukraine has won it tonight in Istanbul with a mammoth hunt song. Her song was called : "Wild Dance", and her performance deserved to be seen ! ;)

Hooga ! Hooga ! Hoogawah !

The Eurovision song contest is not funny anymore !
All small countries from the Balkans are voting for each others... And I'm sorry to say that but I'm stunned by the winner. :crazyeye:

It's getting more political by the year. You say this "cavewoman" won with a song called Hooga ! Hooga ! Hoogawah. The way she was looking i would mind giving here a Hooga ! Hooga ! Hoogawah.

Image please!

The Minister must verify these cavewoman claims! :)

If you want images, find by yourself, I won't spend my night on google to find images of her "fire" show. :p

Eastern Europeans are taking over. Belarus gives 12 point to Russia and Russia 12 to Belarus. Cyprus gives 12 to Greece and Greece gives them right back.

There is no better argument for leaving the European Union than this charade.

I've never even heard of this event? Apparently it can't be that important. Either that, or my ignorance of other cultures is reaching a new level...

Those countries don't belong to Europe yet (Well except Greece and Cyprus). Anyway, I agree with you I don't want to see Europe enlarged to the Balkans after having seen that thing.

I know it's not in the spirit of the event, but's it's stupid to see Malta's voice counting as much as those of Germany. Germany represents 200 times more people than Malta !!

Its not important, its just a crappy music competition...

you would say that, have you seen the girls on the show; they get better and better every year:- and by better i mean there looks. :o

Well, your knowledge of European popular culture does appear to be lacking ...

The Turks apparently took their victory last time around as confirmation that the rest of us have finally accepted them as Europeans ...

Its still a rubbish competition regardless of who is singing. It is nice to see though that for something that no one should care about especially at a Civilization site has managed to produce two threads that are growing rapidly

Well...if they are so gorgeous as you say they are, where are the pics so we can judge for ourselves. :)

The only reason Turkey won was because Britain was involved in the Iraq war; and the rest of Europe hated us, so they punished us with 0 points.

Wasn't that the reason why everyone voted for them?

You started the thread!

Do your duty for the masses!

Couldn't we just get rid of the song contest rather than the union?

No because these are the people that are the new countries in the Union.

It is a reflection of how Europan politics will become with these new members. One big corrupt, backstabbing, deal making, real politic, selfish union.

It's quite interesting to watch acctually. I didn't watch the music only the voting. You get a real inside in the European thoughtproces, which countryy backes who, who hates who from a war 30 years ago etc.

It's funny. It's the first time I talk about the Eurovision Song Contest with other Europeans... :)

I've always thought it was a joke when they were saying 100 million people were watching it, but that may be true after all. I've liked the Swedish song personally. I think they should have won.

Clearly you didn't see the performance. The backing track was completely out of sink with their singing, which was also terrible.
