The Civ 4 Gandhi

Perhaps it is my overpowering ability to notice the extremely discrete, but is this new Gandhi more aggressive than intended?

He is supposed to be protecting weaker nations, but in every game of mine, he seems to be a powerful foe of either Alexander or Julius. And he seems to try to drag other nations into his little petty conflicts as well. Some builder leader.

He seems slightly less aggressive then the Civ3 Gandhi. That is about it.

I don't know how he compares to Civ3, but I have read others on here comment that he is surprisingly aggressive, and my own experience agrees with that.

Its probably because India is powerful under his traits and UU.

It is because in the game his country won't get colonized by the English throughout the ages.

I thnk they did that on purpose. I was reading the Civpedia entry on leaders, and it said that the leaders will generally try to act like their real life counterpart. But it did say that this happens most of the time, and then it goes on use Gandhi as a example, saying he is generally a peace loving ruler most games, but can be a "back stabbing thieve"...or something like that. I need to get the quote they said about Gandhi.

I've noticed the same thing. Ghandi in my games is often very happy to run about having his little wars and killing people. Quite seriously, I keep as much of an eye on him as I do on Montezuma.

Edit: my hypothesis is as follows. The leaders are supposed to keep to their prevailing ideologies, but they will circumvent them if the oppurtunity arises. This has two effects with Ghandi - everyone expects him to never start (Or even fight) a war; and his UU and traits combine to usually make him one of the most powerful civs around, giving him more oppurtunities than most to exploit foes.

Gandhi in my games seems to be no 1 or 2 most of the time, and very strong defensively.

If the civ leader is based on the real life version then Ghandi should literally have NO military units.
Non-violent resistant helps that type.
If he can't start or even be in wars then agresiveness is irrelevent.
He has none.
It does have powerful traits but that wouldn't make a warmonger out of a pcifist.
I am playing him right now and have good relations with all, well except for Louis who attacked me.

Ghandi is usally pretty powerful in my games, too. He is usually really friendly with me, but he always angers the other nations. I can't make any other friends because the other civs are annoyed with me now. I usually see, "You have traded with our worst enemy!" and "We demand you stop trading with the vile Indian."

I haven't dealt with Gandhi very much in Civ 4. For some reason, the Indian leader is usually the other guy.

Gandhi always seemed to be really aggressive in previous versions of the game. He would attack for now reason at all, even if you had been friends with him the entire game. He was pretty quick to nuke as well. It got to the point where I would usually wipe him out the first chance I got just because it was pointless to even try to have peace with him.
