The Cold War Deluxe; 1950-1991

Also I forget give Israel 1 nuke.

Many countries have no air power please give them some,

Hold on a sec there, Eq....

You complained earlier about the turn times. You do realize that the more units I place on the map, the long the turns are going to take?

Right, major countries will receive a few fighters. The only countries with real bombers are, IIRC, Soviet Russia, and the US, and of course the US has much more power than the soviets.

That reminds me, I need to give them some bears...

Well Pweetman, thanks for the new BIQ , my CPU is a bit on the old side and by the mid 70's I make sure to have a book when I load up the Coldwar.

Just as a hint for me, and those like me. AKAnot exactly computer savvy  , when I download your file, place it into the scenario folder, and add ElJusto's files to the BIQ. Correct?

Can I have both versions at the same time? Do I just need to add your BIQ and, choose it instead of the ColdWar version 1.6 one?

Sorry, I'm kind of dense when it comes to computer matters.;)

Thanks in advance!

I haven'T downloaded the mod but I think you will just need the folder of TCW and the names of the BIQs should be different..

No sweat, sir.

The biq should go in the scenario's file of conquests. That's it. So long as you already have El Justo's file's the biq will run fine. No need to duplicate the folder or anything! :)

Also, yes, you can have both running at once. They are completely different .biqs with different names, so you can have a game or three of each running at once. Just choose the TCW 1.6 Modern one in Civ-content, and you're good.

If you have any advice on how to make it better don't be shy. I'm making a new version already with the advice Equuleus gave.

Thank you both for your replies. I thought that was the way to do it, but I'd rather wait to make sure then mess the whole file up. I swear sometimes I can make my computer crash by looking at it funny.

I'll be sure to through in my 2 cents worth, but as long as Canada has nukes I should be fine!:D Unrealistic sure, but why not ? If you can't trust Canada, who can you trust. *cue sinister music*.

Off to make the world safe for Hockey and maple syrup!:goodjob:

Uh oh.....

....

Anyone have a good hidey-hole I can use? I'm going to have a very pissed Cannuck on my hands soon.

Relax my hockey teams on a three game win streak. You're safe for now.;)

Gave it a little run through by the way. Very sweet. Quick load times for both America and my all time favorite.......India. I don't know why I like India so much, either the food, those zany movies or the dames. Or the combination. Who knows who cares.:D

Thanks for all the hard work!

PS: just a small nuke??Please ????????I promise, I'll walk it, and feed it and brush it and everything.

I learned the last technique from my Daughter last summer. I now own a dog. I think the thrill of walking a dog wore out for her Sept 1st at 12:01 am....

I do ramble....anyhoooooo..thanks again.:p

Well, PSweetman can do what he likes with his biq, but the premise of the original scenario was to keep it as historically true as possible.
And a single nuclear bomb within the game engine is pretty much worthless.
Unless it is a ICBM, it can only hit the U.S., and maybe Eastern Siberia.

The only nod towards Canada in the original biq to anything non-historical is the inclusion of the Avro Arrow. We produced 5 prototypes, but had no production run. The Arrow is available in 1.6.

Aye, yup. Canada isn't going to get any boomboom balloons. Sorry. But hey, you can edit the biq yourself if want, it's not difficult. ;)

How much work you plan to put in this.?And do you plan to change the leaderheads example in 1976 Stalin wasnt Russias leader Nikita Kruschev was i think. and i may be spelling his name wrong just to name a few.By 1976 a lot of leaders in most countries had changed.I like what youv'e done so far its a interesting era to me with cooler units at your disposal.

And that's all it's really intended to be.

To be completely honest, I don't quite know how far I'll go with this. I'll probably just take it as it goes, and when I've got free time I'll take everyone's suggestions and try to balance them out. Then I'll put them in. It really is going to depend on how much free time I have.

A note on suggestions and changes: This is intended to really just be TCW fast forwarded. I have absolutely no intention of drastically shifting game balance to one side or another. This is El Justo's scenario through and through. All I did was change the era's.

So, although I welcome all suggestions, I intend to be quite conservative with what I'm actually going to implement. Don't be dissapointed if I reject your ideas. It might be that I actually like them, but thought they would change the flavor/flow/playstyle of the game, and I do not want that.

About leaderheads: yeah, that's a harmless little change, and I'll have that in the next version. :)

Edit: Oh, and when El Justo releases the next SP version, I'll do my best to get a modern version of that up too. :)

That one should have a lot of interesting developments in it, based on ongoing discussions.

Thanks for the quick response.I also made a few changes for my own private use.I changed all civs to paid labor I just dont like the idea of forced labor resulting into city population decrease that stuff may have happened in the dark ages but not in a modern era and another problem with that is the AI doesnt handle that very well. example any time a enemy gets near the city it will use that option to much to defend the city and the next thing you know the citys down to a population of 1 or 2 and severely effects the city to defend its self not to mention how it effects the citys capability to produce effective units and making it easier to conquer the city with no problem in my opinion.I also added the ability of some units to build armys.someone did this in another big here for this scenario and the AI seemed to handle it pretty well. And I have a question about what units you wouldnt consider appropiate to build armys besides the obvious air and sea units. And will you be making a version of the modern era on the larger map.?hopefully you will I like the larger map version and im sure others do as well.i understand that people with not very good computers would rather have the small map for shorter turn time purposes. but the turn times are pretty good on this map and i dont think it will be to bad on a larger map for some of us.I play the large map version and its not to bad for me.and i expect it would be about the same with your modern version.

Large map version: We'll see. I doubt it, though, to be honest. It took HOURS to add improvements to all the cities in the small map. On the huge map, It'll take DAYS!

But hey, if I get bored this summer.....

we're actually working slowly but surely on a large map version. however, the first incarnation of it will be relegated solely to the 1950s (ie 120 or 130 turns depending on what the base unit of time it is set at).

i could post updates on it periodically but not right now since it is very comprehensive and alot of it is developmental jargon that we use amongst oursleves. however - the improvements, i think, are substantial and we're trying to implement a host of new aspects, especially the lessons learned from AoI :)

El Jutso, are you working on a 1.7 on the current map, or only the new, larger map version?

Oh, and could you put up an older version of the scenario with Afghanistan in it? I am just curious as to how the map would look with them in it. Did you combine them with Iran/Pakistan purely to get North Vietnam in, or did you do it because they always ended up getting conquered by the Soviets or Iran-Pakistan?

Thank you for the greatly entertaining scenario.

It's on a new map.

As for Afghanistan, it is too small and inconsequential to merit inclusion on its own. They can be slotted in through individual fiddling.
