You might wonder why I didn't do the story on Friday as well as the update for Isabella like I said I would. Here's why:

From Wednesday to Friday I was gone to a school trip. I came back late friday and all I wanted to rest something. I would have updated on Saturday but I spent it on attempting to do an even greater Jihad (see The Greatest Jihad on my sig) and I went to the most boring place EVER! My godfather's house, where the computer can't run modern games and doesn't have Flash updated, which is an annoyance when trying to watch YT videos, then on Sunday I left to the country all day long. Finally, when I went to bed this adventure ended.

As you can see, a lot kept me from updating. But now that I finished this long rant, let's get this story started.
-----------------------------------------
Prologue: In the beggining

Sumeria is one of the oldest civilizations on Earth. It's civilization spans hundreds of years before any other civilization set foot. Their homeland, located between the Tigris and the Eufrates was one of the richest, and most fertile, places on Earth. Therefore, it allowed the neolithic cities to grow far before any other civilization on the entire planet.

This culture survived, with it's city-states, 3 thousand years since it's foundation on 6000 B.C. On it's way, they came to be the most developed place in the world, for now at least. It was never unified but it suffered a lot of wars between the several city-states that populated the area.

It is the year 3000 B.C, and one of the cities finally established complete dominance over it's brothers. Not in the conquering sense, but it outshined the rest on almost every other aspect. The name of said city is Urug, or as we know it, Uruk. It's semi-legendary king, Gilgamesh, reigned over this mighty land, building it's mighty walls and began the Uruk period.

How many broken loopholes with the Oracle are you going to abuse, because I abused all of them and can discuss some strategy with you if you want. I am quite curious too see your Sumeria strategy.

random: WARNING! SPOILERS BELOW!

I am already at 1844 A.D, barely at the middle of the renassiance:sad:

I forgot to put pictures here. Oh well, at least you'll get to see some epic Sumerian-Elamnite battles. Also, militar conflicts between the cities did exist but they aren't mentioned here. It would be too much writing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: The Uruk period

It's the year 3000 B.C. The neolithic towns of Zhongdu located near modern day Beijing formed their own civilization. Slightly off the other side of the continent, the Nile towns unified into a civilization. The indians near modern day Delhi did the same and they all began their expansion to rule the known world. All of these formed their own different civilizations. Sumeria was, for now, the oldest and most advanced of them.

The first thing the Uruk city did was to research on how to turn their sounds into images. This began the developement of writing. At the same time on the north, the city of Nippur began to develop their economy based on the large amounts of stone below the ground that were known by bigger rocks above the ground. This would help in the developing trade with the Canaanite cities, whom were not powerful enough to form their own civilization.

After the completion of the Nippur's quarries to extract the stone, the workers at Nina began to develop their city on the basis of being a trade center. When writing was developed at last, the sumerians began to wonder what was on the mountains that surrounded them. Nippur demostrated that riches lied below the land. The sumerians didn't let this go unheard and so their miners began the developement of ways to dig these strange minerals and how to use them.

Spoiler :

By the time the ways of digging the riches from the rocks was discovered, workers at Ur began developing their city and the ways of the bronze were being developed. The sumerians were, by then, a chalcotic civilization. They already heard of a mysterious material used by far away places that would strengthen their weapons. If they developed and mastered this mineral succesfuly, their weapons would have a great advatge over their foes.

However, in the year 2000 B.C, the Elamnites tried to invade this civilization once and for all. Despite the inferior quality of the vultures against the invading Elamnite chariots, the latters were defeated and retreated from Uruk.

Spoiler :

Despite the Sumerians won a victory against their biggest threat, the Elamnites continued to raid the cities surrounding Uruk. When they restored safety, the Uruk city decayed and another city took the place of Uruk. It's name was Nippur. Their quarries allowed the city to be very prosperous and in the aftermath of the invasion, their quarries were something that gave them enough productibility and richness to impose itself over the other cities.

My strategy was research Priesthood, then Writing, then Monarchy, build the Sphinx and the Temple of Artemis, then Oracle for Feudalism around turn 75ish. By that point, you will flip Jerusalem and Tyre. Both locations have their merits, because while Tyre has better resources, Jerusalem is closer to a canal so you don't have to invade Egypt with Longbows. Just my personal loopholish strategy, as usual.

Ah yes, my favorite civ in RFC in Abundance, i'll follow this story. Although can I ask a favor? Please make the screenshots smaller, if I zoom out to see the whole picture I end up not being able to read the text.

Welcome to teh forums! :band:[party][party]:bday::beer::cheers::high5:

If anybody says they make updates more often than me, they're probably right!

We won't eat you, of course.

If anyone tells you that they tell better puns than me, they are WRONG!

Gotta like your posts Mr Random. Since you are the sole willing to discuss strategically.

I'm still trying to hone my Sumer strategy; do you have any ideas or tactics?

I got a few tips.
1. If you're having trouble with Elamnites then from the beginning make a settler and make a 2nd city, when they come they will go for the 2nd city and most of the time ignore your capital.
2. After that make nothing but vultures and when the Babylonian Capital has like a chariot and maybe 1 Bowman, get all your vultures and do a Archer Rush kind of strike, Works most of the time.
3. Tech Path Bronze Working>Monarchy>Build Oracle>Feudalism.
4. Make nothing but Longbowman until the Arabs spawn.

That's my Strategy, hope it can help you atleast get the industrial era. :)

I kept Ur and I bee lined Feudalism like you, but I was thinking of invading Egypt and building a canal city to spawnrush Arabia from.

Building an Empire with Sumeria is really hard, because Sumeria is meant for one city, so I'd recommend get the occupation civic first before doing any invading.

coolguy: Welcome to the forums!:w00t: I'll see what I can do about the pics problem. I resized them to 75% of their size, but that's as far as it will go unfortunately. If I make them smaller then text-reading will be a problem.

Chapter 2: The Nippur period
8zek.jpg

It was hard to think that both states could have peace. Specially knowing that the elamnites had a huge army ready to conquer Sumer. Some elamnites fled to the west and conquered the Canaanite kingdoms, forming the Elamnite Kingdom of Canaan (Supposedly it's Babylonia but they can't settle the Mesopotamia due to my prescence). Nippur was bitter against the Elamnites, but could not invade Elam itself. You know what would happen if they did. They began planning an invasion of Canaan.

What you are seeing above is the leak that overbunded the glass. The Babylonians settled in Ninua, threateningly close to Nippur and to the mines.
(Seriously, the Mesopotamia is a freaking mess of loosely-connected titles now. The Sumerians have hundreds of lonely titles, there's an elamnite city that's being squashed in culture and now Babylon settles the highest the mesopotamia can go.)

w3xk.jpg

The Elamnites finally rebelled against their overlords and attempted to join the sumerians. Uruk sighed in relief that the huge elamnite army protecting the city was gone and Shushan was invaded. The city fell under Uruk forces and it was burnt to the ground. We can also see that Ninua has copper, another good reason to invade the place for Nippur.

Finally, Nippurian armies invaded Elamnite Canaan after years of preparation. The weakly defended Ninua fell under Nippur's grasp. Due to it's position to the Assyrian mines, it was kept.

The Nippurian armies pushed westward into the mediterranean now that Canaan wasn't around protecting it's mesopotamian possesions.

Finally, the Nippurians attacked. They succesfully conquered Jerusalem. At the time of the conquest, a general met the egyptians under Pharaoh Joseph, whom overthrew previous pharaoh. In case if you're not getting it, it's Joseph from the book of Genesis. I put him there because Egypt founded Judaism and Joseph just happened to be a close descendant from Abraham.

The Nippurians then attempted to conquer Tyrus and the rest of the phonecian cities. They were defeated and forced to sign a peace treaty with Canaan. You can't see it, but I lost many vultures to Canaan.

4v1l.jpg

The Elamnite Kingdom of Canaan collapsed due to the anger provoked by the fall of Jerusalem in Nippurian hands. This was a good time to invade the city. However, this invasion failed and the invaders had to escape to Jerusalem.

Further troops arrived from Ninua. The Sumerians were well known for their troops that fought well against the cavalry. This fact helped the vultures to defeat the phonecians, whom sailed into what is now known as Carthage.

Shortly before the Persians became a civilization, Nippur collapsed for a number of reasons.

  • Assyrian peoples invaded Ninua. The city was barely protected so it fell quickly.
  • Canaan got incorporated into Sumerian culture soon after the fall of the Elamnites.

This is what the Empire looked like before the collapse:

bk8u.jpg

And here's the most realistic version. I added a few more cities on Mesopotamia and Canaan but most of the empire got ignored. This doesn't mean it was a desolate wasteland.

Great Update, and thanks for making the screenshots smaller. I think the fix for the text on the screenshot is to use Paint.NET (Thats actually what the program is called) and save it as a PNG.

Son of a subbafras.

Ooh... You got really unlucky with the Babylon spawn. For me they usually spawn on the other side of the mountains. Why didn't you burn the terribly placed locations of Jerusalem and Babylon's city?

They never spawned there. They just flipped the cities of Jerusalem and Sur. The map with the pseudo terribily placed cities is only there for roleplaying pruposes.
