The Crazed Vikings

I have no idea. I'm not sure if I want to keep doing this. Seems like it takes us forever to have one person finish their turn, and if no one plays, no one posts.

Its eddfire's game, so do we skip him if he doesn't show up by 72 hours (6 more hours until that point)? If we do then demonpoet is up next.

24 hours to get it/48 to play it like usual

If the group wants to skip him, I'll play. I'm with Despair actually, this sg isn't going very quickly or well, and the creator is now MIA. I say we make a group decision of one of the following, keep playing and skip Eddfire, keep playing and wait for Eddfire, or just abondon the sg. I don't really care what we do, would you count that as a vote for abondandment?

I vote to keep going and skip eddfire, we are getting close to the fun part...

preturn

change lib bulds to markets, one barracks, and an aquaduct.

Notice we are in Republic...revolt, will last 8 turns...

Looks my my turnset will be just worker moves...

IT,

take care of all the riots I can
Persia building KT

IT,

Iroquois destroy Americans
Iroquois building Leo's and KT

We are now a Monarchy.

330ad

It really makes no sense for me to start doing anything at this point. I'm going to end now and let the next play take 12 turns. Why we were in a Republic all this time I don't understand, with the Unit support it requires, no wonder we were going broke.

Actually guys, I think I'm going to resign from this sucession game. I'm not having much fun with it, I'm getting busier, and I really haven't been playing civ at all lately.

Sorry.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the leader is MIA.

Ok then, I've got it. Should we post for another player so its not just the 3 of us?

Look for the save sometime tomorrow morning/afternoon central.

Turn Log:

Turn 0 (330 A.D.)

Bump science up to 40% to get Engineering in one. Change Reykjavik and Aarhus to pikes (we are a Monarchy now, and they have MP value, building one in Reykjavik will allow us to fire the clown there...) Not sure why Birka (a size 2 tundra city) is building a marketplace since I don't think that the maintinence is going to be worth it in a city that's not going to get all that big, but leave it since it won't have enough shields to build anything worthwhile during my turnset. Dalgo can change this if he wants.

Turn 1 (340 A.D.)

Get Engineering, Invention due in 31 at 40% science. Trade incense to Aztecs straight up for spices. This lets us drop lux to 10% and raise science to 50%. Invention now due in 25. Reykjavik Pike>Marketplace.

Turn 2 (350 A.D.)

Spain demands Engineering, tell her to shove it and evidently she doesn't feel like a phony war, so she backs off. Hareid Harbor>Barracks.

Turn 3 (360 A.D.)

Trondheim Marketplace > Temple (need happy help), Copenhagen Aquaduct>Marketplace.

Turn 4 (370 A.D.)

Aarhus Pike>Marketplace, Odense Worker>Pike

Turn 5 (380 A.D.)

Bodo Worker>Harbor. Inca start Sistines.

Turn 6 (390 A.D.)

Iroquois demand 37 gold and since its just gold I cave, no point in a phony war with the possiblity of having others dragged into it against us over 37 gold. Maya start Sistines.

Turn 7 (400 A.D.)

Have to hire a tax collector in Reykjavik to prevent a riot.

Turn 8 (410 A.D.)

Molde Harbor>Barracks

Turn 9 (420 A.D.) :smoke:

Trondheim Temple>Wealth (8 units over support limit already), Hareid Barracks>Aquaduct.

Turn 10 (430 A.D.)

Stockholm Marketplace>Aquaduct. Hire a tax collector in Bergen to prevent a riot. Our income is finally high enough to up science to 60%, which cuts 2 turns off Invention which is now due in 11.

Turn 11 (440 A.D.)

Nada

Turn 12 (450 A.D.)

Nada

Notes: Invention due 9, so it looks like we need to decide who our first victim will be (we have to declare war on someone once we get Invention) My vote goes to the Inca, they are close and will give us a lux. Are we going to be razing and replacing or trying to keep cities over there? I would suggest razing since our culture sucks and flips would be a very high possiblity. Dalgo, you might want to check my micro-managing, no riots are going to occur, but some of the low shield cities might not be micromanaged perfectly.

The Save

Take all the cities you can, each new town gives unit support that will be crucial to the war effort.

I've got it, will play today. I think we should keep the Inca cities, they will be close enough to our core to be useful and we can build artillery there.

We can also build the FP over there too...

Pre-Turn: We still need more workers; we are working too many unimproved tiles. Change Bodo to worker. Hareid is wasting 5 food per turn with an aqueduct 30 turns away. I’ll build a couple of workers there first. Change Trondheim from wealth to granary in 5. Change Birka to pike. We have a 4-tile hole in the north that we cannot work until one of the nearby towns expand. I change Aarhus to temple. MM the other towns.

Check for trades. It is in our interest to slow the tech pace but the Aztecs are the only civ without Monotheism and they have spare dyes. Will they swap? Yes. I put the remaining specialists back to work.
When we declare on the Inca we may lose our trade deals if they go through Inca territory. Does the Lighthouse mean our trade routes can use sea tiles as well as our ships? If so I think we are only blocked on the Inca west coast where they extend to the ocean. The east coast looks clear but I send a galley that way to open up some more of the map just to make sure (whee – galley moves 5).

Hit Enter.

IBT – Hareid: Worker => Worker

Turn 1 460 AD: Worker moves.

IBT – Bodo: Worker => Worker
Iroquois complete Knights Templar

Turn 2 470 AD: Galley clears sea-lanes to Aztec island, returning home.

IBT – Stavanger: Barracks => Pike
Alesund: Harbour => Barracks
Maya and Persia building Sistine Chapel

Turn 3 480 AD: Worker moves

IBT – Copenhagen: Market => Temple
Birka: Pike => Temple
Molde: Barracks => Pike

Turn 4 490 AD: We are running negative gpt so I adjust sliders. Invention in 6.

IBT – Trondheim: Granary => Cathedral (pre-build for Berserk).
Hareid: Worker => Settler

Turn 5 500 AD: Worker moves

Turn 6 510 AD: Worker moves

IBT – Aarhus: Temple => Aqueduct

Turn 7 520 AD: When Aarhus expands it will fill in the hole and those tiles can be worked.

IBT – Persia extorts 38 gold :(
Bergen: Market => Pike
Reykjavik: Market => Pike

Turn 8 530 AD: nada

IBT – Copenhagen: Temple => Pike
Odense: Pike => Pike

Turn 9 540 AD: Worker moves

IBT – Invention comes in.
I renegotiate our spice deal with the Aztecs and give them incense + 32 gold.

Turn 10 550 AD: Change builds to berserks. Turn off science and we earn 87 gpt. We have 10 archers to upgrade at 150 gold each and only 415 in the kitty. I’ll leave it to the next player to start the upgrades – and to declare war.

We can trade Invention to the Incas for Theology and Chivalry. Should we do this? Probably not, neither are much use to us and we would be giving the Inca longbows which would be their best unit as they don’t appear to have horses.

When we attack the Incas our first target should be Corihua…. And I suggest we raze the town and establish a new town on the forest one tile northeast (there is a settler being built in Hareid). That new town will be then be a single turn for our galleys from Copenhagen and will be our main base on the continent. Note that when Aarhus expands next turn Hareid will have some better land to work.

Looks like you get to start the fun demonpoet :D I would agree with having one native city on the mainland to cut down on initial flip risk, but after thinking about it I agree with demonpoet as far as keeping cities goes, its not like our island is going to be able to turn out settlers and berserks fast enough to keep pace.
