The Dacians

I love the gentle mix between simplicity and detail on this unit. And it looks great in-game!

Even the civs in my mod love this unit. I put it in game, started up, and every Thracian and Dacian city was building this unit. If the people in civ like it then how can we ask for more?

Hope a few others might be coming along sometime.

I'm not sure on the accuracy of the sword; I just grabbed it from the post above. I don't have a falx prop, but if you can find me one, I'll see what I can do.

I think you can use a katana or sabre, remove the sword guard and rotate the blade 180 degrees.

That emoticon looks like you're waiting for something. This?

If you want a falx prop, I can whip one up for you pretty quickly, I'm sure. Just post an image of what you want it to look like.

EDIT: Oh, I guess you were alerting everyone that there was a new unit in the first post. Well, the offer still stands.

That is a great attack and I really like the arm and torso motion (although I don't know why you're posting it in someone else's units thread) - but you've got to control the feet better. His left foot shouldn't be sliding backwards like that. It's physically impossible, unless he's got butter on his soles or this is all taking place on an ice rink. A cardinal rule in all animation is that feet stay exactly where they are unless the character is actually taking a step, i.e. lifting the foot off the ground and moving it to another part of the ground.

As I just advised someone else, if you're not sure about how a particular part of the body would move in the animation, try acting it out yourself and see what happens. That applies to feet and legs as well as other parts.

It looks like the falx is flopping around like a wiggly banana, though. Is that the prop or is it the falx turning around in the guy's hand?

Isn't this Virote's thread for his work? I'm sure there's room in the forum for everybody to have their own WIP thread.

Here's the thread where I'll post my Dacian units, as time goes on.
