Has anyone noticed that the demogame is falling down? Inside of the chat today CT said that NO new citizens has registried this entire month and the citizens forum has dropped to a mere 10-15 posts a day. The other forums get little past 5.

I think we need to advertise within CFC more... Have a weekly news update every week with a link to the forums and try to lead others outside of this forum to join...

Any other ideas?

One reason there was very little news was the fact that we were playing 0-2 turns per turn chat. Sometimes even having 2 consecutive preturn only turn chats....

@Strider - We had the same problem over at the MSDG section. We can try to Advertise via having CT post in the main page or Put the link in out sig (If we have enough room)

I'm not saying lack of news, but lack of discussion and people... In old DG times 41 people voted in elections... Now we can barely get 20-30 people to...

I'm saying we need to advertise more... try to get more people into the demogame. New people to...

CT.... Would it be possible for you to let me post a recruitment thread in the Civ3- General Discussion forum? Try to attraction more attention to the demogame that way also?

I was gonna ask AoA about a thread advertising us in the OT forum...

I think more front page updates would work well, also. The last one seems to have gotten us some attention.

I agree with Oct. I got into this game after seeing one a news update on the front page a couple months ago. And as for the OT post idea... that would help a bit, but I think that if we post there as well, it would help a lot more.

I think if we actually played more than 5 turns, there would be enough to write home about.

An advertisement (stickied?) in the general discussion thread should attract some new ones I think. I ve noticed every onceinawhile that newbies ask for "best of CFC" threads and such. One of the answers usually is a Demogame 2 link.
It should perhaps be made more obvious that even inexperienced players will have a say in what goes on in the game. ->When nominations start, most of the time there is the "oldies" being renominated for the nth time.
Perhaps a little more encouragement on the -> "join today and be part of the government"-kind of advertising could pay off?
I dont think the more visible players here would mind lending a hand out to the newbies in order to help them around in governmental positions....

I also think an advertisement thread in GD would do wonders. What do you think, CT?

Sure, everyone gang up on the Civ3 Section Moderator. ;)

Ok, I'll tell you what. I'll make an announcement in Civ3 Gen and Stories & Tales. (Not a thread, though).

EDIT: Announcement added. ;)

Thanks. Hopefully it will bring some new players.:)

Me?? Nope... I've been here from Day 1... or pretty much so... I was Science Chat Rep during DG1 Term 1... I don't remember though... I think it was Immortal VIA chat though that got me in.

Yep - I think I got into DG1 by chat as well.
We also recruited a member in the #civfanatics chatroom
I am sure our beautiful moderator (do note the shameless flattery :D) could come up with a way to advertise the demogame using her script ;)

"licking..."? eww, gross. :p

EDIT: ok, you edited it. Now you can "avoid a nasty moderator action". ;)

Other factors that may be involved . . .

:borg: The game is "in the bag" and in its final run-down. Once we get Panzers it's all over save for few hard rounds of Tetris to get to a domination victory.

:borg: What is being done now is very methodical. Pounding down cities with artillery is not that dramatic after the first couple of victories.

:borg: Turns involving a hundred cities are involved without being involving. Just a lot of detail to slog through.

I wouldn't say "It's in the bag" just yet. We still have a whole half pangaea to conquer. Also, the size of the American territory is misleading. 2 reasons:

1 - there's another half in the south.
2 - cultural expansion.

So, we still have the top 1 third of that continent to take.

The only problem is that we play no more than 2 turns a game. Sometimes 1. If we actually play more turns instead of stopping cause an infantry jumbled our plans, or something unexpected happened. It's time to give the leaders and President the power they need to continue without the desparate "Citizen Imput". Does President Bush stop and ask the American Public what to do every 5 seconds? If he did, there would be no need for a president. The "leaders" need to be able to make more decissions without citizens.

BTW, I'm back ;)

We should also add 'what if's' to our planning.
