The Difference between Québec French and Metropolitan French

I'm learning French in collegen soon, and I want to train myself to speak in Québecois accent, since I'm American and using a French accent would be the equivalent of having the Madonnas in English. How are the differences between the two dialects?

This is a (relatively) good start, but as for getting an accent...you would have to hear the two to compare, I'm afraid.

The quebecker accent is very odd. I used to hear it the odd time in work and it always cracked me up.

The English equivalent would be maybe the dorset sterotypical Oo-ar farmer accent. Quaint, sometimes difficult to understand.

Depend which version of Quebec French you look at. Quebec is six time the size of France or so, with lots of room to develop a wide variety of its own dialect - even people from Montreal don't really understand people from the Magdalen Islands :-D.

Well...(standard in the sense of "Standard procedure" is "Standard" in Québec french. "Étendard" is "Standard" in the sense of a flag), probably, but more because about half of Québec lives within Greater Montreal than for any other reason.
