The Empire (lots of pictures, NOT modem friendly)

While the war was still raging on between the Aztecs and the Babelonians, the military high command in the Roman Empire had other things on there mind. While there was peace in the Roman Empire again it was clear that things needed to change, the surprise attack of the Iroquois and the Russians proved that.

Those 2 powers would be need to be punished for there crimes and at the same time should have there global power limited. The Roman military high command came up with a daring plan!

What follows is an email from the military to the Roman emperor:

to: Emperor Ceasar of the Roman Empire
from: Roman military high command.
subject: Russian/Iroquois threat.

Most powerfull leader of Rome as of your request we present you these plans to limit the power of the Iroquois and the Russians while at the same time betters our global position. As you know the Russians have 4 cities on the Iroquois island. We believe that they are not very well defended, and it would be possible to launch an invasion to capture these cities. After this lightning attack the Russians will sign a peace treaty no matter what.

When we have the cities under our control we will have an exellent beatchead on the Iroquois island, if we build airports in these cities we can quickly fly in reinforcements for the second half of our plan. In this plan we will conquer the 4 most northern Iroquois city's. If we can do this fast enough and prevent the Iroquois from organizing a counter attack we can take these cities and then make them sign a peace treaty.

The result will be: 4 captured russian cities and 4 captured Iroquois city's. Along with these recources and luxuries: 6 units of silk, and one unit of coal. We will then have the only coal resource the iroquois have, and then they are left with only 1 unit of silks, crippling there trade.

We have included some maps:

And a more detailed map explaining our benefits:

The damage to the Russians will be minimal, but they would not pose as big a threat as the used to be. The most damage will be done to the Iroquois. We suggest that we use aircraft carriers and bombers as well as naval bombardements to lay waste to the Russian infrastructure.

You've got accelerated production on, haven't you?
I have a suggestion concerning the EEVIL Aztecs: Mass produce settlers, and ship them into the "New World". Then build cities between the aztec borders. To protect them, you could either a) move the German defencive line or b) make new units.
This would be a gamble, but if you please the Aztecs, they might leave you alone. These new cities would give a good starting/healing point for future peacekeeping attacks.

And also, before starting your atta... righteous crusade against your EEVIL enemies, when you think you've got a big enough invasion force, double it's size, just in case.

This is a very interesting story line. Good job. This is the perfect chance for me to tell you all my idea for the next civ game. I think that you should be able to offer peace talks between two nations at war. That way you wouldnt have to get involved in the mess. But enough said, I dont want to take any time out of the story or lead to a discussion, so please dont comment on what I said here.

More leaders should discuss invasion plans over email...

Seriously, good story and good story-telling techniques!

I usually play 'help the weak and fight the strong' in most games, even when I am not the strongest civ. What I like doing the most is if a bully somewhere has captured almost all cities of a smaller civ, I take those cities and give them back to their former owner. It's like you've acquired a 'pet civ' :D.
He entirely relies on me for protection.

There is one problem with that tactic in this game however. Your pet civ will declare war on you for something measly such as a tech if you're at war with another AI.
It's important to give the civ you are defending all the techs that other AI have so they won't be bribed that easily.

Hopefully Civ4 will correct this.
