I know it, but as it is the safest way, I'm not going to mention it here, as it would be unfair (in case PoP read it before the end of session).

The Third Council of Aztlan has come to an end. The council shall gather again in 10 turns time.

Have you ever had that feeling where something makes perfect sense in your head, but when you try to explain it to the people who are not in your head (which is hopefully all of them!) it doesn't seem to make sense to them at all?

Of course you have.
That’s a bit what the location rules are starting to feel like.

Well, to paraphrase one of my favorite musical artists:
There is nothing to be gained by the shedding of tears over each unfortunate consequence of one's actions, simply redouble your efforts until the supplies of baked deserts have been depleted.
Hmmm… I guess the original is catchier. No matter.

Here's some words. Hopefully they are familiar. They are in the rules after all.
LOCATIONS
There are a few exceptions, but most actions involving other characters require that both characters be in the same location.
The following are counted as the same location for the purpose of actions:
  • Both characters in the same city (they do not have to be on the same hex).
  • Both characters in the same unit.
  • Characters in two different units within 2 hexes of each other.
  • Characters in a city and characters in a unit within the city.

And here's some stuff supposedly worth a thousand words. There are words on them too… does that increase the value? I haven't done the math on this one.

Clear as blood?
Good.

So a question came up a while back regarding whether or not the Aztecs had to win the game for the highest fame character to be declared the winner.
I forget who asked, but statistically speaking it was most likely Grey.

Been thinking about it some more, and here is what I've decided.
  1. As previously indicated, for the time and effort everyone needs to put forth on a long term game like this, its nice to be able to call someone "the winner" whether the Aztecs win or lose
  2. I always think its more fun when winning is worth something, so "The Winner" will get a starting advantage in a future game.
  3. Likewise, collectively winning the game as the Aztec's should be worth something too.
Therefore, while I don't know yet what the future game may be or what the starting advantage will be, this is conceptually how its going to work:

If the players collectively win the game as the Aztecs, then EVERYONE will share in the prize. The value of the reward for each player will be weighted according to total fame of all living characters. So the better you do, the bigger your reward, but everyone gets something.

However…

If the players collectively lose the game as the Aztecs, then only the player of the single highest fame living character gets the reward. So coming in first place gets a reward, but for #2 and everyone else - nothing!

The Prinz yielded to my guards without a fight and we returned to Tenochtitlan. In my absence, the city people had pitched in and finished the monument. On the pedestal of cubed rocks that I had built, they had hoisted a beautiful black slab of onyx, honed by the stream it was found in to a perfect ovaloid shape with a hollow in the middle. A stone axe, made of another piece of onyx, with a beautifully carved handle of ebony was placed on top.

I took Prinz von Perzien to the monument and said: “I am a merciful man, but as a God, I am one of the Old Gods. The man in me gives you a choice, and you must answer me by the beginning of the next festival. Shall I sacrifice you myself, or shall I give you to Ipalnemoani instead?”
