What do you think of the increased tech pacing at higher difficulties?

Civ games in general have far too fast tech progression times IMHO. Ive always had to mod it so that teching is a lot slower.

Am I the only one who thinks the pacing is far better in R&F ?
Rapid tech progression has always been an issue in Civ, but the new era system is imho a huge improvement.

I’m with you 100%. I voted very good.
If you want to tech above the age you suffer for it.
You can play an epic game to make the most of muskets.
I like the way the AI does not beeline AT so much now.
The key thing is to ignore dates, if you look at a date once in the game that’s once too often.

What is a real problem and possibly on oversight on the parts of Firaxis is that at quick speed, the Eara point system is not adjusted. While everything is more or less adjusted to 2/3 (in line with 350 instead of 500 turns), the point system to determine dark and golden ages is left alone. Good luck getting Golden Ages on the internet speed then :)

I think the early eras go by too quickly. I'm always surprised at how fast the game hits the renaissance. I like the speed of the earlier eras on Epic, but then the later eras end up boring or overly long for me, so I usually stick to standard speed.

I've always thought that the first two or three eras should be slightly frontloaded with turns since with so many fewer cities/units/action, it breezes by.

Maybe...as long as you don't employ The Educator early ;)

The same was said about Marathon, yet it seems to be working okay re golden ages and dark ages. I think there's a bit more behind the scenes there.

on deity it ends up being a 1 turn build game,so this is where you will end up,.4 science districts is a must to get to this level.gl hf.

I see all the people saying Civ 6 pushes people to warmonger and here I am as a peaceful player happy as a clam and feeling like peaceful play is more rewarding than ever in Rise and Fall.
I like peaceful play, I love peaceful play and this expansion has put a lot more in to make it good.
However in min/max style and on higher levels warmongering makes things faster if you want a fast game which is what I think is a shame in a way.

maybe Firaxis has it right, it seems to be catering to both crowds?

Part of the sources for era points are one-shots like building your first naval unit or your first unique unit or discovering a natural wonder. Others are repeatable like taking barb camps and so their amount is influenced by game speed. So it is not a simple reduction in "Era points needed", you need to consider both the one-shots (base) and the repeatable sources.

Yes, you're right that warmongering makes things faster, but that's not a really a valid unique criticism of Civ 6...that has always been the case in every iteration of the series because that's the nature of the core civ gameplay. 6 offers the most robust alternatives for faster victories though with the religious victory and if you get fast tourism, its iteration of the cultural victory.
