The Minimize button? what good is that?

I just noticed this weird thing but if you push the [-] button right in front of a posters name there post gets minimized, it looks quite weird, but I haven't found a practical use for this.
was that always there?
and if so then has anyone actually used it?
 
It's there to make the forum look more "high tech". :D I rarely use it...

BTW, in your User CP, there is an option to auto-shrink all the posts that you have read.

The only use I can see it being used for is as a way to read posts with minimum scrolling. or perhaps as a makeshift way to silence spam. :lol:
but I feel honored now the Thunderfall was the first to respond to my post :p
 
If you have the option set in preferences to "minimize" read posts, only the posts marked unread will appear expanded. A nice visual space saver for posts you've already read. Of course, since the read/unread feature isn't very reliable, neither is the preference feature. Still, it does save some effort in scrolling to the bottom of a series of posts.
