The Most Dangerous Game - Small Pangaea FFA

You must have had 50% odds at best, but your own stack is smaller than mine and could benefit from the defensive bonuses of the city, so for all intents and purposes your axeman was stronger inside the city than out.

Not true. My odds were 65% or something like that, you can check it from Combat History. And my stack was bigger (7 vs 6, I believe).

I attacked because I did not know that War Chariots do not get the 100% vs Axemen bonus when defending (I mean, wheres the f**king logic in that???).

Well, I made that call because yes, there will be a counterattack, because most of my vultures will get promotions and will therefore have the opportunity to heal with them and attack again. I won't lie, I was extremely lucky and was also extremely pleasantly surprised when my spearman won, but to be fair I have a large force of aggressive UU axemen with City Raider. I think a certain amount of destruction is to be expected.

If you have strong Vultures the next turn, then thats one more reason not to attack with 21% chance spear this turn.

Anyway, I feel that the game is more interesting when everyone follows the rules, so I hope everyone does. If this is a one-time streak of luck, then so be it. There is a easy way to check that - more battles will have to even out the odds and luck. If they dont, then something's wrong.

Upps !
From gameplay point of view I suppose that this is a way to offer a counter to axemans ( which otherwise will rule the Ancient age battlefields ) without breaking the "no defending bonuses" philosophy for mounted-units.
From "realistic" point of view ... it's probably a way to capture the dual nature of chariots : good when attacking and are able to use the speed and size but bad if are caught unprepared ...

As an advice ... just in desperate cases let a ( War ) Chariot as defenders ... against anything else than warriors - otherwise run as fast as possible ! :p

Who has the save now ? Etienne ( the only one who don't write here regularly ) ?

Like I said, I honestly did not think that my spearman would survive, but I wanted to inflict as much damage as possible. The spearmen aren't all that important to me; they're just there to protect against the War Chariots, and I have others close by. My main preoccupation was getting your defenses down as soon as humanly possible, and the Random Number Generator was extremely kind to me.

I know the uncertainty and the possibility of your opponent cheating is unpleasant, but I assure you I'm really not usually this lucky, and you'll most likely see a bunch of losses on my part :(

As you are surprised - I was disappointed when I realised that the damn crossing-river prevent me to do this. :(
So I choose to kill one of your units instead ... and - as long as the position of the second sperman is well known... I'll mop the other one to from the area - so now I'll be able to bring enough units and to re-settle the city again. :crazyeye:
Really? I thought if you could reach my spear you could have reached the city (both two squares away, right?) - not that I'm complaining!
Yep I expect you to kill my spear, but I've got more forces heading south so I don't think you'll manage to re-settle.

I also belived this was - but seems that crossing a river consume additional movements ...

Anyway ... RIP Fiereni. Your citizens will be revenged ! :scan:

Game sent to Ardi.

After such bad luck, the Buddhist gods are smiling again. A great hero, the Great General Leonidas is given to us, a true champion to lead the Egyptian legions. A bloody battle was joined in the forests of Darnussus..

Thank God, I thought that was another GG for the Zulu!

Anyway, caught me before I was off to bed. All's gone quiet in the west as my armies regroup in Ottoman territory and the Zulu don't have the stones to attack me.

Sent.
