Guys, I'm now leaving to go travelling on 14th May. I'm not going to have access to Civ, and I don't know how long I'll be gone. I'm happy to play on until then - after all, I'd like to leave my civ in a better position than it's in now - but I think a replacement will need to be found.

I've posted in the 18-civ game I'm playing that I'm leaving so hopefully someone there will be interested in taking over. Sorry to do this, but I can't put my life on hold for C-IV... no matter how tempting that may be :)
 
It's all good, man. Sad to see you go, but I'm sure it's for a good reason. Just out of curiosity, where will you be going? I'm assuming it's an exotic place without internet, and if so, well, that just makes me more curious.

I'm starting in Barcelona and then heading east across Europe. No laptop = no C-IV though. No particular route in mind, but I figure I'll follow the coast through southern France, cut across Italy and follow the coast down to Greece, then across to Istanbul. That's the general idea at the moment at any rate. I travelled across the US a couple of years ago with some friends, but this is my first attempt solo - hence why I don't know how long I'll be gone: I might give up after a couple of weeks ;)... but I don't think so.

It was just a joke - my army is also quite weak ... and just gather into the woods to prevent a future concentration of your units in disputed area ...

Catapults? Yep, this war definitely set me back technologically. Thankfully Mitiu doesn't have them :)

Let me know if you'd like either of them to take over and I'll provide the password. Alternatively I can post in the replacement players thread and see who volunteers.
 
Anyone is fine really, as long as they seem eager and able to take over the turns!

And yeah, your euro-trip sounds fun; I'd trade my place in this PBEM any day to go, as much as I like you guys.

And Ardi, what say you we stop this charade for now? Both of us have made our tries, and we've retreated with our tails between our legs. Perhaps it would be best for us to call it a cease-fire for now? I've offered it to you in game. We can discuss about a length of time if you accept.

Need to think a little bit what to do next, calculate how many units I can bring into that spot ... :rolleyes:

Hmmm ... you have 3 units ( 1 of each : axeman, spearman + archers ) which started to fortify inside the new-built city while I was able to mobilize in the area 5 ( 1 axeman, 1 chariot, 1 impi, 1 archer and the Great Axeman-General El Cid ). Not sure if the "heal while move" ability will be in effect at the begining of next turn ... or if you will manage to chop walls or an additional defender ... but anyway seems like a tough decision to make in coming round. :blush:
 
Sent. I've approached Nighthawk to take over from me. He's GMT (-5) so same as Alexi/Etienne I believe, so it should work out okay I hope. I'll let you know if he's on board and will sort out the transition.

No chance of chopping walls/defender (no forest to chop). I know I'm leaving which makes me a bit of a lame duck, but would you be willing to end the war? Leave me Phoenix and you rebuild Fiereni and we both win - you get iron, I get my city. I've got the advantage defending on the hill, in my territory, so while you may win if you attack... in all likelihood you're just throwing away your units.

Edit: Nighthawk has agreed to play in my place. I'll e-mail everyone with the change. Thanks for the game guys, it was a lot of fun - even when I was losing at 90%+
 
The Ottoman Empire is in chaos. Amidst an ongoing border dispute with Zululand, the dictator Espirito faces troubles at home. His domestic policies face harder scrutiny after his failures abroad. Mothers and wives grow weary of sending their sons and husbands off to die at the hands of Zulu axes and spears in the waste lands as a result of mandatory military service. Zulu slaves revolt, and Espiritos shrinking personal guard struggles to keep them in line. He is locked in his palace in Istanbul, unable to leave amid protests which are turning increasingly violent.

The very public leader of this crowd is a man with the last name of Khan. With his armies fighting an unwinnable war and his people about to burn his palace, Espirito is forced to welcome Khan and a small band of revolutionaries into his palace for a formal meeting. After several hours of discussions, both Espirito and Khan gain a newfound respect for each others' positions. Khan knows that the people will not rest until Espirito has been removed from power. Espirito is not stupid, knowing his position is dire, and agrees to step down.

In a very public spectacle, Khan "captures" Espirito, and rather than allow him the mercy of death, sends him west into exile with his small band of loyalists, forced to wander the deserts for the rest of his lifetime. Among the ensuing celebrations at Istanbul, Khan speaks to the masses. He guarantees an end to Espiritos forced military service for males, and in a surprise move, frees the Zulu slaves. He vows to work with Zulu leadership to resolve the border disputes and end the wars which have plagued both peoples. With these simple proclamations he wins the hearts and minds of the Ottoman people.

And so the world sees a new leader rise to power and wonders what will become of the once mighty Ottoman empire...

A response directly from Zulu's Voievod Ioan I-st The Founder was sent. Unfortunately the move will be played and sent to next player just after this negotiation will be completed ... :mischief:

Your biggest advantage is that my units aren't fully healed. :(
 
OK ... it's seems that Gods of Odds now turned their face from me ... I attacked with 1 ( freshly-promoted ) axeman the defenders of Phoenix but ... he died without being able to produce not a single scratch ! :mad: And meanwhile a wandering Mayan units was spotted close to my undefended units ... whithout anouncing any good or bad intention I assume that everthing is possible ... :(
So I call off the siege and propose a ( shamefull ) truce for 10 turns. :rolleyes:

The new appointed Propaganda Ministry should find an good explanation for this ... because it's never good to blame a king, no ? :king:
